Has anyone gone to Atlantis in the Bahamas?

I want to go with our girls (14 and 6) this year or next, but don't want to take them out of school. Has anyone gone in the summer? Is it a bad idea to go during hurricane season? I could go over Christmas time, but we live in the Mideast, and you never know about the weather when you are leaving. If you have been there, do you think kids my age have enough to do- sometimes I struggle with them being 8 years apart.

Atlantis. Yes, very nice, and very expensive. I have been before. during the summer the weather is beautiful except for the hurricanes. But besides the hurricanes and the heat, it is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. It isn't a bad idea to go during hurricane season. however if you do get caught in the middle of one (which I doubt) then it is not fun. During Christmas time the weather is cold and windy and cloudy because of the cold fronts. There are plenty of things for you daughters to do at both ages. And if you get bored with the things in Atlantis, you can alway rent a car or taxi and drive around the island!

Many times, it is great! If your kids love the water, they would really enjoy it. I would'nt worry too much about Hurricanes, I have went during that season, and nothing happened, they are rare.

i stayed there (and next door at the riu and just hung out at the atlantis). and we want to go there for our honeymoon. we loved it

there is a lot to do there. your kids should be ok. there is a waterslide that goes thru the sharktank, lazy river, like 7 pools, the ocean, a HUGE aquarium, movie theatre...

i've been in july. it was ok. the surf was a little ruff because a hurrican had just passed. but you hardly need to go to the ocean with everything there. lol

its expensive as crap tho, bring lots of money. eat at murary's deli, its the cheapest and not bad food. dont wander too far down the street. if you go to the straw market dont wander too far away as well (not so great areas)

yes...the summer is a very good time to go...i took my son last summer and it was a great great vacation.....good luck hope u enjoy it like we did....

I've been to the Bahamas, but not to Atlantis. The Summer can be fairly hot and you could easily get a bad sunburn. Atlantis apparently has some good waterslides and a really nice, giant ocean aquarium. The aquarium also has a waterslide that takes you through it. They have a beach and plenty of other water activities, such as volleyball, snorkeling and sailing, paragliding and riding waverunners.

If you look at Paradise Island on Google Earth, you can see a good aerial view of their facility.

I haven't gone, but my sister and brother-in-law have gone twice, both times with their kids (age 4 and 6), and they all loved it. So many things to do, and the kids will love it. They have good babysitting services too, so if you want to enjoy the day or night with your spouse, they're very good for that.

And yes, do not go between July and early September. Wait until at least mid-October until the hurricane season winds down. Christmastime is definitely a great time, but probably the most expensive time to go, too.

I think both kids will enjoy Atlantis. You could spend most of a day just exploring it. There are lots of day trips near the resort that both kids will like, I think. Boating, snorkeling, beaches. When I went we went on a dinnertime yacht cruise during sunset, that was nice. For the adults I recommend the big marketplace in Nassau (fun to browse and shop.)
Hurricane season isn't the worst in July. In October and November, that's when I'd be worried. Christmas is a fine time to go to the Bahamas, everything is very very lively.
Dining is easy at Atlantis, the restaurants always have items kids will like. Some are very easy on the wallet. You'll love Murray's sandwich shop.
