Go somewhere else. Punta Cana is only all inclusive hotels. No towns, no nuttins. Built for and of All inclusive hotels. No culture at all.
Go to Puerto PLata, Sosua, Cabarete or Bayahibi.
Way better off! |

I love punta cana because its beautiful but it is all resorts.
If you want o just lay by the beach all day and tan and just be catered to by the hotel then yeah by all means go to punta cana. Plus the people are extremely friendly! |

First, what type of vacation are you looking to have??
Punta Cana is mostly full of All-inclusives, but it's very developed now, and has new night clubs like Webster Hall and other small bars on the beach, or just good old night club (my favorite) Mangu.
If you want to explore anything other than your hotel, you will definately need a car, cabs can be a bit expensive for tourists.
I have stayed in many different hotels, but my favorites are Paradissus (both hotels) and Ocean Blue. |

I have travele to Punta Cana, it is beautiful! They have inclusive resturants which are good. Alot of suites with balconies. And they offer many activities. I went over New Year's Eve, and it was alot of fun! They had parasailing at the resort, the ocean was a beautiful blue, and we took an ATV excursion. That was the favorite part of my trip. We rode to a beacha and went swimming, then to a store which had many cheap souveniers, and to a cave where you could swim in the bottom, and people were scuba diving in the cave! I would definently recommend Punta Cana. |

yh i ve been there it was lovely!!!! the beach was perfect!!
ive been to two other hotels in the country and the one i stayed in at punta cana was the best by far!!
the part of the island that punta cana is on is alot cleaner than puerta plata area it also seems to be richer!
most of the hotels in dominican republic are all inclusive, its very rare to be self-catering.
just be careful if you venture out into the local towns on your own (anywhere in dominican)
hope this helps |
