I have lived on the island for 22 years now and I have not finished seeing all the interesting places found here nor done all of the intersting things to do. To check out the guys I recomend El Alambique beach in Isla Verde, that`s where the natives go to get a good dose of vitamin K. Thats what checking out the girls and guys is called here. Besides the beatiful beaches there are: Old San Juan, which is very romantic with pubs and "Al Patio" cafes, various museums and local art galeries. Isla verde is a vivrating place all the time, Pinones is close by they have delicious local food made over fire pits. Ponce, a city on the south side of the island, is a colorful place to visit; they also have a unique fire station, home made ice cream and Don Q destilleries, that`s Bacardi`s competition. Bacardy in the San Juan area has a good tour and you get a couple of free drinks. The Camuy Caves is a good tour, you could also visit a local Taino village and the Arecibo Observatory. The west side has the city of Mayagues (it`s a college town with lots of partying), Aguadilla, Rincon and Cabo Rojo. They`re all nice places to visit and if you come between January and May you may be able to see whales crossing the Mona passage. They also have a ferry in Mayagues which can take you to the Dominican Republic (I sugest getting a passport if you want to venture there because it`s a foreing country and to get back to US territory you will need it) You could also take a boat tour to the island of Desecheo, it`s a natural preserve and it`s uninhabited. There are realy good palces there for snorkeling or scuba diving. Crossing over the central mountains to get to the south side you will be able to see some beatiful places. It takes about 1 and a half to get there but if you have the time I would recomend it. On the east side there`s El Yunque and Luquillo beach and in Fajardo you can take a ferry to Vieques or Culebra, I recomend Culebra they have some of the most beatiful beaches in the world (I would recomend Soni beach and Flamenco beach) the locals there as all Puerto Ricans throughout the island love to party a lot also. I believe that covers the most interesting places. Depending on the time you will spend here and whatever are your preferences you will have plenty of things to do. Here`s some web sites that offer more information. www.prhta.org - www.puertoricoisfun.com - www.wheretostay.com - www.puertoricosmallhotels.com. You can also try to get the magazines Que Pasa and Bienvenidos, they have good information on what`s happening through the island. The one thing you will enjoy more than anything is our people. They are friendly, love to party and most of us speak english. So go ahead and plan your trip I`m sure that you will have a great time. Have a safe trip.

I've been there, its very metropolitan. Not what you would except for a Caribbean island. The city is as high-paced as you would see in the United States. Lots of stores and malls. Nice place.

The food is good.

Puerto Rico is a great place to live. The cost of living in the towns are cheaper than the states. However, other metro area's are just as expensive as any city in the states.
