I've been there for a two weeks vacation in the early 90s.
I still fondly remember having rented a car and just driven around the island. I think one of the most beautiful scenic views I had, was shortly before driving into Speyside. There was a small car park on the top of the hill and the view was magnificent. It was a nice bright and sunny day, therefore the colors were just beautiful.
We also took a tour to one of the small islands to view the birds. This was a good trip tour. What I still regret was having taken a tour through the rain forest. We had a totally crazy local guide who took us on a path that was dangerous, totally strenuous and exhaustive. Although I was physically in a good shape, I was totally beaten after that and at one stage slipped and nearly rolled down a slope (about a hundred meter). I just was lucky that I got stopped by a tree. Afterwards, the guy was upset that I didn't give him a high tip for nearly killing us.. I would not recommend to anybody going for such a tour!
Generally, the problem was that back then, there were a number of 'illegal' guides that you definitely have to watch out for. They were all over the beach and quite aggressive. |

Like dey all say Bucco Reef, feh sure
take a glass bottom boat out, to the reef and Nylon Pools.
Capital, Scarborough is a pretty, colonial little town.
Pigeon Point is a lovely beach to stay at. White sand, blue water, coconut groves... (sigh) |

I live in Trinidad and have been to Tobago and I believe that the Bucco Reef is the best place to visit while in Tobago, all of the beaches are to die for, the water is clean and pure which makes the coral so easily visible.
You must try Tobago's well known Crab and Dumplins.
Also benna balls are just out of this world.
If you need more info an trinidad or Tobago you could email me at shanti804@yahoo.com |

Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool which is an area out in the middle of the sea that is shallow enough for you to walk/swim in even though it's so far from land. It's awesome!! |

I live here too, Daisy! Where are you!!?
The best places to visit are anywhere north of the runway, which runs along the very bottom of the island, so.... anywhere!!! |

Bucco Reef and the Nylon Pool are the main attractions, but because of tourist traffic, the quality has diminished. I cried the last time I was there because it's obvious the reef is dying. It's still a beautiful place though and the water is so warm!
Argyle Falls are still relatively unspoiled and so is Speyside and Charlotteville. They are further away from the airport but definitely worth the extra mileage.
If you are in the Store Bay area you must sample Crab and Dumplings and Bake'n'Shark. Don't forget a cold Carib to wash it down!! |

I live in Tobago. The island is fairly small and one can do an island tour in a day, there's lots of lovely beaches, waterfalls, nature trails, deep sea diving, fishing, snorkelling, there isn't much night life but one can always find "a lime happening" and never ending friendly locals. You can also check out tourism in tobago, should give you lots of info. Hope you decide to visit, you will not regret it! |
