Have You Been To Jamaica?

I have been to Jamaica twice, once to Negril and once to Ocho Rios. Despite the bad press regarding crime, it is a beautiful country with great food, rum, Red Stripe, sunsets, and music. But the best think about Jamaica is the people. I've been to the Bahamas about a half dozen times and also Aruba, but I liked Jamaica best.

Love it!

I'm from Southern California and have vacationed in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, Bahamas, Cayman Islands........Jamaica stole my heart though. Been 4x already (Ochi, Runaway Bay, Trelawney, Kingston, and most recently 10 days in Negril) and can't wait to get back there.

Compared to the other places I mentioned above, Jamaica stands out for the following reasons:

- The music
- The people
- The food
- The RUM :-)
- The beaches
- The sunsets
- The countryside
- The vibe, attitude, and all-around culture of the place!

Born and raised 100% Jamaican. My country is a great place to be. There is never a boring moment there. From our food, rum, red stripe beer, music, parties and our people it is all great. If you go to Jamaica you can never regret it. I just came back from visiting there and I had my bday bash oh men it was so much fun. We know how to party and enjoy life and have fun. The media always finds the worst to put in the news about everywhere especially jamaica. A lot of stuff is blown out of proportion in regards to Jamaica but we still stand strong regardless. Jamaica is the best country. One Love. Yardies stand up, Jamaica to di world.

Jamaica is my favorite vacation spot. I've been there three times in the past two years and I love it. The people are so friendly and I love their accents. I stayed at Hedonism III each time and those were some wild crazy nights. Went to climb Dunn's River Falls. That was amazing, until we witnessed two Jamaican's fighting with machettis over $4. We found out the next day that one of the guys died. But overall, I dream about having a house there when I need to escape the US. Gorgeous there!

Bad press is what makes the news any place in the world. Who wants to report on good things? Spent 3 years in Jamaicamon and had a great time. The people are super friendly and some of the better people as a whole that I have run across. The country is nice once you get off the all inclusive resorts and experience true Jamaican hospitality.

Born and raised in jamaica...now live in NY...going to relocate to fort lauderdale...to be closer to jamaica...I building my house there and planning to go back home and live....Jamaica is a beautiful country and just like america...If we had better people running the government...poverty and crime wouldn't exist....but bottomline there's crime everywhere and the press ALWAYS blows **** out of water....Jamaica is great

I have been to Jamaica once. Went two years ago. I am a single female who traveled alone. I had a wonderful, memorable trip. The people there are fantastic, the sunsets amazing. I still correspond with a friend I made while there. I felt totally safe. Stayed at a little "no frills" hotel on the beach in Ocho Rios.

I have been all over Jamaica north coast south coast east and west and the blue mountains I love it there and I dont know why everyone thinks that the crime is so bad I think it is worse here in the states. Jamaica is a beautiful country with beautiful people,I think that what ever happens is kind of blown out of proportion after all when have you herd that a tourist was harmed of killed there. I am going back soon and often.

I went to Ocho Rios twice last year. I have to agree with you. I totally fell in love with the people. The first time my husband and I went alone. We took our four college aged kids at Christmas. They usually can't wait to get back to see their significant others and do winter break things with people at home. This time they wanted to stay. We are looking at property in Montego Bay now, because I believe that Jamaica is becoming a habit!
