Have you been to Cuba?

What is a reasonable amount to tip? Dont want to give too little as to offend, but not too much either.

Thanks

Some choose to tip $1CUC each meal...maybe $2...but you don't always have to. But I usually do. They work very hard...their job is not always very easy, especially when it gets super busy at the resort. It's very helpful for the servers as they rely on these tips to make a living. And when they convert the CUC to their CUP, they lose a bit in the conversion.
It's nice to give a peso to the one who makes your eggs or crepes in the morning...maybe not everyday but maybe a couple of times.
The room attendants work hard and it's nice to put a peos or 2 on a little note for them by your bedside or on your pillow. But you can also leave a little gift for them such as toiletries each day instead of a peso.
You can also tip the beach/pool towel attendant once in awhile if you so desire....I've even tipped one of the gardeners who was making little arts out of the palm leaves. He wasn't even expecting it. But it felt good to give him a peso for it. It put a smile on his face, especially working hard in the hot sun.
Don't feel obligated to tip each time for the bartenders. But perhaps you can give a nice tip of either $5 or so pesos at the beginning of the day and they'll attend to you quickly and they'll be appreciative.
If you give with your heart genuinely, they can tell if you're patronizing or not. But $1 CUC is reasonable here and there for different services.
Little gifts are nice to bring as many things are hard to come by in Cuba...such as pens/pencils, feminine products, soaps, toiletries, lotions, makeup for the ladies (they like eyeliner)...if you have gently used clothing such as t-shirts, jeans, baseball caps, sunglasses, running shoes -- very helpful.
A box of chocolates for the front desk is a nice gesture as many of those that work there are overlooked for their hard work. They'll appreciate that as well and will be very helpful towards you.

Once you get to the resort you'll figure out what's what and who's who, what they're doing, etc....and you'll know what you would like to give accordingly. Don't feel pressured, but give what you feel comfortable with too.

Most of all, have an amazing time in Cuba. You'll make great friends there and you'll be back in no time.

In general they don't expect a tip , only in the tourist hotels and
bars the tips are a habit. In a bar, restaurant a tip of 1 cuc is enough. A room maid in a hotel , 1 cuc a day.
I don't tip in (Cuban) bars , because I know , I pay enough for the drinks and they make a profit on me one way or another.
I give the tips to eldery Cuban people in need, they have a hard time to survive and do not get tips.

Yes I've been twice and I'm off to Varadero a week on Friday, we always give 1 peso as a tip to waiters, the guys down the beach and the bar staff, the bell boy who takes your luggage to your room we give 2 peso's and to our maid we give 10 peso's at the end of our holiday, we give her little gifts each day too, we don't tip every time the waiters get us something or we get a drink at the bar, we generally tip once a day, no matter what you give the Cubans they are always very grateful for it, its a wonderful place, have fun and enjoy.

As the Convertible Peso is pegged to the US$ I'll use the dollar sign.

The monthly salary for a doctor is $10 per month so if you only give $1 then that's already 2 days pay. The problem is that it discourages people going through university when they can rake in the bucks by driving taxis or tending bars. I was in Cuba for a week and I was just about to give my chambermaid $10 when I thought it through and decided on $5. In the event she was absolutely delighted.

standard tip for your server, bar or buffet at your resort is one Convertible Peso, that isn't to say you tip every drink or every meal. It's always nice to tip your towel man the occasional peso and the same for the beach man who gets you set up in your sun bed every day, likewise the lady cleaning the lobby all the time. When I go for two weeks I give the housekeeper 25 Pesos at the end of my stay. Please take down little gifts such as pencils, crayons, ball caps, toiletries to give to the staff. Also used but not abused, sandals, to-shirts etc.

I went to an all-inclusive resort we tipped every morning in our hotel room. We gave money, make-up, clothing, jewelry, toys, hair pins and elastics, and anything that we found for cheep here in Canada that was light to carry in our luggage. They don't have much there our tour guide told us that they are rationed Tylenol, I think it was 1 bottle a year more or less depending on the size of the family (next time I go I will be bringing this). The women also need pads, tampons they are there but to much for them to buy.

We also tipped the bar tender (when we left the bar), waiter, and front desk when we left.
I think any amount is good, Have fun and go to Havana and see the Tropicana show

I've been there many times and I'll return the day after tomorrow!!!

Tipping is very difficult in Cuba.
Depends for what you wanna tip them. But never give more than a dollar!
A guy that waches your car all night = 1$
A waitress = 1$
etc.

You can change CUC into Cuban Peso Nacional and tip them with 10 Peso, thats 50 Cents, but seems more.
