Yes, Cuba is a fantastic holiday destination, its a very safe country, the Cubans are beautiful people who will go out of their way to make your holiday even more special for you, its a really relaxed chilled out place, ok the food isn't what a lot of people are used to as there is no fast food joints there but its all healthy good food with lots of choice, the beaches and ocean are out of this world, the sand is like silver velvet between your toes and the ocean is bath tub warm and the most beautiful turquoise colour, the fish swim around you but never bother you, there are some amazing trips to do too, catamarans to beautiful little unspoilt beaches, swimming with Dolphins, trips to Havana and lots of other places, Cuba is just beautiful, its gets in your heart and makes you fall in love with it, I would recommend Varadero for a lively holiday or the Cayo's for a chilled out or romantic one, have a brilliant time if you decide to go. |

yes - I went in February and April of this year - I stayed in the Cayos - The Melia Cayo Coco in Feb and the Playa Cayo Coco in April
The beaches are unbelieveable and the sea it is so unspoilt.
Lots of things to do - snorkelling - diving etc., Also went on excursions - went to Havana for the day (1 hour flight), also went swimming with the dolphins on the opposite side of the country in Cienfuegos - that was a 2 day trip - it is a cultural shock to actually see Cuba - the real Cuba and not just the Cayos - the population of the islands is the tourist - most of the workers have to travel from Moron which is over 1 hour away.
Would recommend it to anyone - I am saving to go back - the next time though I will just chill by the sea and have a few rums lol |

It's a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the beaches, resorts ...but most of all the food and the music.
It is really safe and the locals are very friendly and will get out of their way to make you feel at ease.
There are a lot of places to visit anywhere in the Island, you can go to Varadero(Matanzas), Guardalavaca(Holguin), Soroa, Viñales(Pinar del Rio)... you name it. |

YES 3 times . the first time 1996 went to guardaulvaca ,then again in 1998 & 2001 to varadero . the last time we went it was not so good , the hotel did not have as much amenites ( free mopeds & imported drink) . I would not go back as its become very touristy . the beaches are beautifull but thers not a lot to buy ,no shopping malls |

I have been to Cayo Coco twice, to the Sol Club resort. The beaches are phenomenal, the resort is smaller, which I prefer, and the fishing, sailing and reefs are tremendous.
Most recently I have been staying in a small town in the centre of Cuba. I stay in a Casa Particular, which is a government licenced bed and breakfast. This one is actually a little apartment up under a mango tree.
This time I travelled around - has to be by car but it's not that expensive, and joined a three times a week community Tai Chi class in a park. (Recreation is free in Cuba.)
My choice of Cuba is because of the secure feeling there. People are very friendly and supportive. It helps if you have some Spanish, but people are very patient while you try to explain yourself.
The food is wonderful. There is a tourist currency so you are limited to the restaurants that will accept it. However I had the best hamburger and fries for years for about $1.50 US, and a set meal for the same. You need to like pork. It's super fresh in small places where it arrives in town squealing its head off.
You can get Cuban food at some of the resorts as well.
May to November is the wet season, but it is so hot that the showers are a relief. I was there last month and we had a tropical cyclone. Didn't matter - I had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. |

I went to Guardalavaca. It's nice if you want to do nothing otherwise it's boring. There is basically nothing there. We swam with dolphins and visited a park but other than that there really is nothing. The hotels are all in the middle of no where. If you like holidays where you don't really leave the hotel then you would probably enjoy it. |
