I've been there several times. Have two favorite things - the Rainforest (El Yunque) and the old town (Old San Juan). The former is really fascinating country, with beautiful flowers and waterfalls, and I loved hiking in the rainforest, and looking out over it from a tower. Old San Juan is colorful, historic and has great shopping. I loved it!
Other things I really liked included the town Ponce, which was on the caribbean - and is also very historic. They have a great art museum. The phosporescent bay - very interesting, fun boat trip. And last but surely not least we spent a couple nights in a coffee plantation in Jayuja (sp?) called Hacienda Gripinas. We loved playing cards on the huge porch, and the friendliness of the folks. Plus the mountain vistas are incredibly beautiful.
Isn't Santo Domingo in the Dominican republic? |

Being from Puerto Rico, my favorite place is Culebra. You can get there by plane (the small ones) from San Juan or Fajardo. You can also drive to Fajardo (1 hr) and take the ferry. For more info go to www.islaculebra.com. This is a totally relaxing and laid back place. There are no fast foods so you can't be in a hurry when you want to eat. Favorite restaurant is the Dinghy Dock as it's on the water.
In mainland you can go to Las Cavernas de Camuy (this is where they filmed parts of Batman the Beginning), the El Radar de Arecibo (where they filmed part of the movie Contact) and Heladeria de Lares, ice cream with more than 1000 flavors with choices of fruits, vegetables, chocolate, rice, beans etc... Sounds weird but you would not believe how delicious they are. Hope this helps. |

Well I'm from PR and I love my Island. The food is good specially if you are not on diet. Most people are friendly but the best that of the Island is the great beaches that you can enjoy all year round. There is always something new to discover. If you are coming to PR, check La Parguera, Vieques, Rainforest El Yunque, Las Cavernas de Camun, The Lighthouse of Rincon, and of course you cannot miss the Old San Juan and Ponce. Sorry but in every corner is always something that I like I can't choose one. |

Being Fully Puerto Rican and living in Puerto Rico, I have to say that there are so many things that are beautiful and worth noticing in Puerto Rico. First of all the food is great [probably something I could not live without]. The beaches, the rainforest, El Yunque[gets its own category, its awesome], the people there are so nice and your always having fun! My culture is so imporant to me and probably to alot of other people. We have our own slang and way of communicating. The music there is the best and so imporatnt to the culture. anothing so imporant is probably family. I have family in Puerto Rico and every year, all of my family gets to gether in Puerto Rico for holidays like Christmas and its the best feeling in the world. Family is so important in Puerto Rican and genereally Hispanic culture. People are always saying that the sites are the best in puerto rico, but there are so many little things the makes Puerto Rico well, great to see.
If your looking for sites to see, I named some of them earlier. El yunque, all different rainforests, beaches. My grandparents are from Camuey, so a realli nice place to visit is The caves. one of my favorite places is Old San Juan.If you are coming to PR, check La Parguera, Rainforest El Yunque, The Lighthouse of Rincon, Vieques. Ponce feels very historic and its such a nice place to visit. |
