No, Puerto Rico is an Island territory of the United States.
To be a country, Puerto Rico would have to have competative busnesses on the market to negociate with other countries in trade and commerce.
Puerto Rico also would have to have their own money system instead of the American Dollar, and of course use passports to go to the United States.
We are a possession of the United States of America, a Territory of the United States since 1898.
Puerto Rico does not count with sufficient buisnesses and products to trade and market with other countries. Nor do we have any type of metal such as silver or gold to back up a money system which is it did, this money will not be accepted in any other country because many other countries do not know what Puerto Rico is. I have had tourists here ask me is Puerto Rico uses American money and I said yes we do, we are an American Territory. But the day Puerto Rico becomes independent instead of statehood, many of will be leaving here for good.

Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States so technically it isn't a state or a country.

SUE
no. it is a commonwealth of the United States.

:( .Adrianna. .iShaira. :(
Puerto Rico IS too a country, it is part of Latin America and the Caribbean. So yeah, it IS a country, but it is associated with the United States.

Puerto Rico has ELA, which means "Estado Libre Asociado"
(Asociated Free State) but it is considered a country that is associated with the US

This question is the eternal debate among puerto rican politicians. If we leave politics out of this, Yes Puerto Rico is a beautiful country. In the United Nations policy office, NO. Puerto Rico is considered a Commonwealth of the United Statesof America. And in reality, we are just a 'botin de guerra'.

The local Popular Democratic Party has been spreading that lie about Puerto Rico being a "country" since the ELA was established back in 1952. Don`t believe their lies. Puerto Rico is a Colony of the United States.

just consider it an island,lol
since its neither a country or a state.
its a common wealth, meaning its affiliated to the US, we receive benefits and american citizenship, but are not completely such to as becoming a full state yet.
