No, Puerto Rico is an Island territory of the United States.
To be a country, Puerto Rico would have to have competative busnesses on the market to negociate with other countries in trade and commerce.
Puerto Rico also would have to have their own money system instead of the American Dollar, and of course use passports to go to the United States.
We are a possession of the United States of America, a Territory of the United States since 1898.
Puerto Rico does not count with sufficient buisnesses and products to trade and market with other countries. Nor do we have any type of metal such as silver or gold to back up a money system which is it did, this money will not be accepted in any other country because many other countries do not know what Puerto Rico is. I have had tourists here ask me is Puerto Rico uses American money and I said yes we do, we are an American Territory. But the day Puerto Rico becomes independent instead of statehood, many of will be leaving here for good. |
