Help! Green iguanas are eating my lemon & orange trees how can I stop them? |
I never thought green iguanas (Gallina de Palo) were harmfull until I saw one eating the leaves of one of my trees. They have spread all over the island, I wonder what harm they are causing our environment now. Anyone know what I can do? I live in Bayamon. |

Those little rascals have spread like wildfire across the island, perhaps the government should intervene.
Maybe the Calidad Ambiental agency can point you in the right direction. Bayaymon also has an animal control agency, you can get a contact to them if you call 911. I know that one of my neighbors recently had a "home invasion" performed by one of those critters, it was about 4 feet long ( body and tail measure). They called 911 and these guys from animal control came threw a towel over the iguana`s head. They said that if you cover their eyes they can`t see and will not lash out with their tail, that tail can whip you really hard. I hope that your trees will be OK, good luck. |

I don't think there is anything you can do. You are not allowed to kill them unless it's to eat them. So unless iguana is on your menu, i suggest you talk to your nearest agriculture store and ask!

i have an azerola little tree and had the same problem the only way is to take a strong guy and with a pick up and leave it in a finca, we even tried a small fence but it would not work, dont try with water because the iguana will take it as a nice bath |

you could always use a .22 rifle its a very small gun ,but will do the job. Or if you dont want hurt them just use a small game trap. |
