There are a lot of differences in each of the islands in terms of culture. I have been to several and here is what I found....

Bahamas - very touristy and busy. Beaches are great, but crowded. Nassau is kind of overbuilt. Even the famous "Atlantis" hotel looks from the website like it is all by itself, but when you get there, you see it is surrounded by lots of other big hotels.

St. Thomas - like Nassau, it is very crowded and full of tourist. Some of the locals can be pushy (like in Jamacia) about selling you things, and it can be obnoxious. It is a US territory though, so money is easy and drugs are not as bad as elsewhere.

St. Johns - My favorite by far. There are two main places to stay: a Westin and Cannel Bay. There is also a US National Park where you can rent places to stay. The island is 90% US National Forest, and it is not overbuilt at all. I think this is the dream island and is what I like to think of when I think Carribean! Peaceful, empty beaches and beautiful snorkling and water. It really is perfect. If you go to St. Johns, rent a jeep and drive around for the time you are there. Try different beaches. Go see the Sugar Plantation ruins and eat a lunch at Skinny Legs, the famous, local pub.

I recommend Caneel Bay. No phones, no t.v.s and no radios. Just you and the beach with few guests at the property. PERFECT!

you should go on a crouse that takes you to all the islands in the carribean it will be fun I know my cuzin had fun when she did that

Go to Dominica (the nature island of the caribbean) you'll love it there is so much to do there.

Check out Curacao. Rich culture, living history, beautiful beaches, great people, nice hotels, great snorkeling and diving, and plenty of things to do and see all over the island.
Some of the must sees are the following

The Curacao Seaquarium, The Ostrich farm, Macros Fishfarm, Punda and Otrabanda historical district, The Kura Hulanda Museum and Hotel, the Matitiem Museum, the Christoffel Park, Parke Shete Boka, and as many beaches as you can. Klein Curacao is also fun.

I went to the Caymen Islands a few years ago and it was totally awesome...when i went there i went swimming with the stingrays (which wasn't as bad as it sounds) and the turtle farm which was really cool cause they have tons of turtles from newborns to really old and you even get to hold some of them!! Also i went to hell which is a town there...lol...but if you go there bring tp cause there is none in the bath room...lol

Also i went to St. thomas which was absolutly beautiful...I went to a beach there and it was so nice...peaceful and relaxing

I hope you have tons of fun on vaca...try to go on a cruise if it is in your budget...but you can get them really cheap right now

I think Puerto Rico is the best. It is a US territory so citizens don't need a passport!! All $ is US currency too & all the food & water is safe, b/c this is the US, it must pass FDA inspections! The beaches are gorgeous, there is so much culture, delicious food, nice people, great nightlife, watersports & so much to do & see! Great for kids & infants too!

You can walk the colorful streets of old San Juan & visit 'El Morro' Old fort. You can explore 'El Yunque' Tropical rain forest or the huge Camuy Caves. There are even bioluminescent Bays, this is water that glows in the dark when you touch it!! It is amazing. I can go on & on.

Beautiful hotels & lots of nightlife in San Juan, including casinos. There is a small island called Mona that is secluded & similar to gallapagos w/ giant sea turtles. There are tons of watersports like snorkelling, jet skiing, etc. So much fun. I have been there tons of times & never get tired! ENJOY!!

Punta Cana in the Dominican is nice but I caught E Coli and was in the hospital from the food down there. But make sure wherever you do go, go snorkeling if you've never went before

Go to Florida or Hawii. I would go to Hawii its just hawwii!
