The Island of Barbados? In the Caribbean? No. But supposedly there supposedly was a Barbados, Wisconsin. It was said to have started by people always writing mailing addresses to Barbados as.
Instead of writing it the correct way as either "Barbados, British West Indies" (prior to independence) or "Barbados, West Indies" either before or after independence. Anyway, as the tale goes the W.I. got mixed up as "WI" (the state code for the US state of Wisconsin). Some of the mail for Barbados (the Island) kept going to Wisconsin. Anyway as the tale went along some small place was said to have sprung up and supposedly they started to just call themselves Barbados but the name didn't last.
