Its a complete myth that it gets hotter in the caribbean in the summer. Check out St. Kitts for your honeymoon. St. Kitts is known for its romantic "plantation inns". These are more like B&B's than hotels. Ottley's Plantation on St. Kitts is a perfect honeymoon spot. www.ottleys.com. BTW, St. Kitts weather is 75-85 degrees 24/7/365. You can feed monkeys on the beach, scuba dive, or climb the volcano for a great view of the caldera and neighboring islands. There are also plantation inns on St. Kitts sister island, Nevis. take her to Cuba its amazing, my boyfriend took me and I feel in love with the place the people are sooo nice, wanted to go back this year but got a fantastic deal on the maldives for 2 weeks we fly in 7 days can not wait.
Cuba's beaches were fantastic alot better than in the Dominican where we had been the year before the sea was sooo calm we went snorkling every day from the beach at the hotel and the weather was really hot, but there was a nice breeze.

What about a cruise that departs from NYC? There are several cruise lines that now depart from NY and travel to the Caribbean. You could visit Bermuda for example.

If you are planning on doing your honeymoon immediately after the wedding, then I'd recommend you book ASAP. End of August through Labor Day (Sept. 3) is when a lot of families do vacation before the kids go back to school.

Since Manhattan is very walkable, I'd recommend a hotel outside of Times Square - that's where everyone wants to stay and the rooms are very small and overpriced. Look for boutique hotels in quieter areas and just walk or take a taxi to where you'd like to go.

As for the Caribbean, there aren't a lot of places in the Caribbean that don't have a nice beach, however, I'd recommend Turks & Caicos for great beaches, Petit St. Vincent if you want complete privacy and a great honeymoon atmosphere, one of the Sandal's resorts in Jamaica, Bahamas, or Antigua if you want an adults only all-inclusive vacation. In Mexico, on the Riviera Maya, I'd recommend Secrets or Royal Hideaway Playacar resorts. Again, adults only all-inclusives, but top notch.

I personally wouldn't go there in August. VERY HOT and RAINNY! But if you do, I suggest going to an ALL INCLUSIVE hotel preferably with SANDALS. They are 4-6 star resorts and they really stand for cust. satisfaction ( you have many reasturant options, you can use any of their resorts ammenities/reasturants, just hop on a shuttle bus for free and go where ever you want)! We went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for our Honney moon and let me tell you, it was awsome! We went in February though, which I belive is prime time to go there. The really cool thing about their all inclusive resort packages is that you barley need to take any money along, aside from extra excursions, gifts, and if you choose to go off resort to shop or eat. Besides those things, we only had to tip the man that carried our bags from the pop bus into the airport and back. All employees at the resorts are not even allowed to accept tips, apparently they get paid better than most people that work in other name resorts. Or so they say. To top it off they have a rep at the resort the entire time you are there to ask questions, or just set up things for you such as how to get coffee and cigars.... YOU NAME IT! Very satisfied! Mabye you could wait till winter to go on your hunny moon.

Dominican Republic or Nassau, I'm going to the Atlantis Resort for my Honeymoon and can not wait!!! My best pal just got back from the Dominican however and said it was heaven!! Google the Atlantis resort, its amazing!!!

New York is a great idea. Cuba is beautiful, and very 'honeymoony'. Don't worry too much about the rainy season. I've been to the Caribbean twice during that time and it never actually rained!

The Carribean will be so hot in August that you don't want to go there. A typical day can easily exceed 110 degrees plus high humiditity.
