Honeymoon trip to Puerto Rico? |
I am getting married in August 2009, and I have been looking at trips for our honeymoon. We really would like to go to Puerto Rico (no passports!) and we would also like to have an all-inclusive trip (all tips, drinks, room, and airfare included). I came across Gran Melia Puerto Rico, and it looks beautiful! I would like feedback on this hotel or any other suggestions! Thanks! |

Well, i'm personally from Puerto Rico...
It's beautiful
and i've stayed at the Gran Melia!!!
It's as gorgeous as they put it in the pictures
it sure is expensive but it's worth it
and the employees are extremely helpful
try getting a suite near the lobby
because you have to walk!!!
Good choice! =]
I think that Gran Melia is perfect for a honeymoon
It's beautifully
and it even has like a little "capilla" where you can get married it's really pretty!
If you want you can also search for:
El Conquistador (Fajardo)
They have a private island where they take you on a private boat exclusively for the people who are staying there, and it's beautiful too.
It's expensive but I think that it's worth it
OH OH OH and try visiting El Yunque (rainforest) it's really pretty |

Puerto Rico does not suck, it is an island...who can truly say an island sucks.
Old San Juan is awesome to visit when it comes to attractions.
The Old San Juan Casino & Hotel is nice to stay at.
Condado is nice to visit it's got all the fancy shops and restaurants.
Caribe Hilton I have heard is very nice out there.
Culebra is your beach with WHITE SAND and El Yunque is the awesome rainforest everyone will tell you to visit.
They even have a sky diving place in Arecibo, definitely something DIFFERENT to do as a newlywed couple.
I recommend staying in the well known areas (San Juan, Old San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde) for your honeymoon if neither of you speak Spanish, as those areas I listed are more tourists areas and people speak English. I am not saying all will be rude to you if you do not speak Spanish, but some will be and some will act as if they do not know it. Plus getting around will be easier for you.
In Old San Juan there is a bus station, if you take the B-21 bus you can go to the Plaza Las Americas mall, it's the last stop the bus makes. The buses used to be 75 cents but are now free, they're trying to get more people to take the bus and minimize on gas! |

Go to the Puerto Rico web site and you could check all of the bargains they have for you. Oh, by the way don't go to Mexico because you might get kill or taken as a hostage, Mexico is the most dangerous country in the continent, more people are getting kill than in Iraq. |

Puerto Rico is not a great option for those seeking the all-inclusive vacation. You will find it is a little more expensive. |

The Hotel you mentioned is beautiful, but so is all of Puerto Rico. The Month of August is a great month to get married, because you will find all kind of deals in P.R. not to many people travel during this time, it one of the hottest. That being said try to look for information on El Conquistador in Fajardo, PR, its on the east side of the Island about one hour from San Juan airport. This luxury Hotel has their own little beach Island, exclusive only for guest staying in the Hotel, it also has their own water park. My wife and I enjoyed our stay for our 23 anniversary. Good Luck and congratulation!!! |

Check out http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1006845-d284987-Reviews-Gran_Melia_Puerto_Rico-Rio_Grande_Puerto_Rico.html
I always like to read reviews on there and look at the traveler pics. You can get a better idea of what the hotel is gonna actually look like as opposed to the hotel pictures which make everything look nice.
I like to take the bad reviews with a grain of salt though because some people are just too hard to please. |
