How can traveling to Jamaica on the 27th (elections) effect my vacation?
Unfortunately, Jamaica has a history of election-related violence. Feelings run strong and the mob mentality can take over. The country has serious economic problems which have impacted negatively on social problems which in turn have become the focus of political debate. I know many Jamaican nationals both here as well as there who have expressed concerns for safety and will not travel at this time.

if it's elections like in the states I'm doubtful it'll be busy by the touristy area - in larger city there maybe more political aggression but I'm one to think not in big money spots.

The jamaican election should not have any effect on your vacation. Jamaica has been conducting elections every five years or thereabouts since 1944. The 1980 election was a particular viloent one, and even then it did not affect vacationers.
So come to Jamaica and enjoy yourself.
