How can you get around in the bahamas from island to island?

do they have boat rides that will drop you off at another island from freeport or is there another way to get around to the other islands

lots of different ways, boats, ferries, or small island hopping flights.

=)

Last time I was there they had ferries to the main islands. Otherwise, you rent your own little boat.

You can take a small skiff from Freeport to Abaco - which is the island closest to Freeport - but you'll only be dropped off at the closest point off of Abaco on the west end. If need to go to Treasure Cay or Marsh Harbour and you chartered a boat, you'll not only be paying the cost of a full day charter but also the cost of fuel - which is expensive. Even if it is a one way trip you will still pay for the fuel the captain will likely spend returning back to Freeport. The best answer is to fly. A flight will take about 30 minutes and is probably a safer bet.

You got it, by boat. Hire a local to take you.

There are companies like "Bahamas Fast Ferries" that offer one day excursions, inlcuding tours and lunch, from one island to the next. You can try looking for them in the phone book and use them/

You can get around by private boat or by the ferry. The best way to get around is by air.

My wife and I are from Europe and we live in The Bahamas.

For island hopping please go to...
http://www.discover-eleuthera-bahamas.com/bahama-facts.html
look under...
Bahama fact #6: Island hopping and hotels
and
for ferry services, take a look at...
http://www.discover-eleuthera-bahamas.com/bahamas-ferries.html
The info I'm giving on these pages comes from practical experience.

Bottom line... fly rather than taking the modern fast ferries.
