How come the dominican republic and puerto rico contain indeginous people and cuba dosn't ? Cuba is bigger.

Being bigger doesn't mean that the population of original indigenous people was bigger. The Taino Indians live in the major islands of the Caribbean but principal in La Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. A recent study on the DNA of the Puerto Ricans show that more than 60% of the residents have Taino ancestry. I'm sure that if you make the same study in Cuba you will ended with a similar results. The theory that the Spaniards kill the Indians is not completely true. A lot of Spaniards married Indians women's or have childs with them. That's very different in comparison with extermination of the Indians in North America.

Cuba is the only country with out those people because we know how o read and write and some of them do not even know civilization. We are better organizared them all of them. Our country is poor but our pleople are smart.

Cuba was considered by the Spanish the Key to the Gulf, also it is the biggest island of the ex colonies so it got the majority of settlers that occupied the land through a system of land assignments called "Mercedes" (close translation: Mercy, Grace, also gift) and enslaved the indigenous population of peaceful, "leisure" people to work in the gold mining and house and land chores. The cuban, puertorrican and dominican indigenous population was very different than the ones foud in M'exico and the rest of Latin America. Cubans were not an advanced civilization like the Incans Mayans AND aZTECS, they were "collectors" (gathered the food and supplies already existent), fishermen and did very few crops, they weren't used to the hard work and miserable conditions they were forced into by the settlers, also the european plagues decimated the population. After the rebellion of Hatuey a Taino leader from DR in cuba indians were persecuted tried for herecy and burned by the inquisition also, the few who escaped fled to PR and DR where the Spanish Domain was not as vast yet and settled in secluded areas of the islands. Still some can be found in the guantanamo mountains but are believed to be migrants from PR and DR and there's not much about their culture left in history about them.

Hey, for who called us indigenous, maybe you should turn off the TV more often, get outside the trailer park and get you an education before you start talking about other countries. Know your facts baby.

cuba was a very important island when spanish were here in america. all the ships coming from europe arrived there, so it was full of spanish people, so they killed all the indians and replaced them with black people from africa.
