Its about 20 minutes by ferry if you go from Cruz Bay on St. John to Red Hook on St. Thomas. If you're going from Cruz Bay to the downtown area, its about 45 min to an hour.

I took the ferry ride there. You put your car on the boat then ride. The ferry does not goes fast at all. It takes about 20 minutes.
