How feasible is it to relocate to an island from the states?

I am tired of this lifestyle, I need a change. I long for the cool tropical breezes and carefree style of island living.

Am I crazy or is it feasible? I'm thinking the Keys, Jamaica, or Aruba.

Its feasible if you are rich.

What you have described is a VACATION in Jamaica. If you earn enough to maintain that standard of living (or start a business that can maintain it) while here in Jamaica, then i guess its feasible. Anything is possible.

I will only say that life in Jamaica for MOST people involves a huge paycut, and to earn it you have to do much more than just sit enjoying the cool caribbean breeze! sometimes there IS NO BREEZE. Sometimes the only breeze is a HURRICANE.

Anything is. It's the American dream. Except if you move out of America.

I have a friend who moved from Canada to Barbados. I think it would be feasible for you, too. just remember the hurricane season! that can ruin the whole "carefree" idea.

This is very feasible...I myself is from jamaica and plan to move back there in about 3 years....For me it's kind of different but...you have to check out your living situation and means of income...Once those two things are in check...the rest is a breeze.....But go with what you feel...People are always going to have an opinion Dont live your life for other people.....Someone might move to an island and have a bad experience and you could end up moving and it could be the best thing that ever happen to you...But you will never know unless you take a chance.....

Enjoy

I plan on doing this by Sept. 08. Fortunately, my parents have a house in Jamaica so that's one thing I don't have to worry about. If you are single, I would just wing it. Make sure you have enough money to last you at least a month. Finding a job is not going to be real easy, find a job where you can primarily work on the internet in the US. That's what I am doing. It's not a lot, considering I still have bills in the US, but if I live frugally I will be okay.

Check out this site - http://www.bongous.com./mail_forwarding_individuals.php
You have goods shipped to a US address and they ship to you at a discounted rate. Also check out vonage, I haven't figured it out yet, but there is a way to maintain a US phone number and get calls in JA through the internet.

It'll take some effort. Check out the embassy's site for more info:

Be thankfull for where you are my dear.
