How heavily is buying a spliff policed?

How heavily is buying of marijuana in Ocho Rios policed? Just want a spliff. Will I be bothered by authorities? I have heard that Jamaican's will sell to you and then turn you over to the police? Are there certain places in Ocho to get a spliff that are safer than others?

Unuh Jamaicans need fi stop tell the people dem foolishness. In Jamaica today, the police are out in their numbers daily. If they catch you with a spliff, they can lock u up or if you can do something for yourself aka pay them off,you and them will be ok.My advice to you is as follows, most hotels have workers that peddle the stuff inside the hotel, get in touch with such a worker and try the stuff inside your hotel room.Don't go on the street with that ish.

Its VERY unpredictable. ANY policeman will arrest you for possession of marijuana if they are 'in the mood'.

Perhaps you could 'look rich'. Perhaps you could seem just a little too arrogant. Perhaps the cop coudl be just having a miserable day. You coudl even come accross someone who REALLY has zero tolerance for marijuana usage around him.

At the same time, you could buy a spliff and smoke it and nobody seems to care. But do you want to take this kind of chance? It is illegal and the cops always have the right to act.

As far as sellers turning you in....thats very unlikely. Such people would get reputations as scamsters and 'informers' really fast. Never-the-less, you coudl still get caught.

If you feel the need to do something THIS ILLEGAL, my advice to you is to ask the bartender or playmaker at your hotel. Don't go looking for trouble. It will find you.

Police generally dont visit hotels to arrest people for marijuana use, so if you are at a lonely part of the hotel beach/swimming pool, you are NOT likely to face prosecution. The worst case scenario is that the hotel workers may ask you to desist.

hmmmm... im not too sure about ocho rios but be careful because the marijuana laws are very strict in jamaica although some cops dont care. if it was me though, i would just risk it and just buy me a spliff :]

It is illegal and beware because your not one of them and they hang people there.

It is heavily police and illegal regardless of the quantity you wish to buy. If you would not do in your own country, don't go ours and try. I can assure you that you that the jails in Jamaica are much worse than the ones in the USA or England.
Jamaicans are not informers, they will not sell you anything and then turn you over to the police. There are lots of interesting and fun things to in Jamaica that does not include drugs

not very... perhaps not at all
