Absolutely. Anyone can make it in Puerto Rico as long as they go with the intent of working. You can't come to Puerto Rico expecting everything to be perfect for you, as with any place. A definite plus is that you're fluent in both English and Spanish. You have more opportunities that way. Best of luck and enjoy your time on this beautiful island!

Well I'm a puertorrican and let me tell you... living there is awesome because is paradise! I mean you got beaches, warm weather all the time lots of day off's haha! Puerto Rico is an Island a very advance Island I may say; if you go to the Capital San Juan almost everybody knows English and being Spanish our 1st language that's a lot to say. But finding a job is hard! If you don't know somebody important that works there of if you are not referred by somebody important chances are you are not going to get it. Don't get me wrong you have a chance but if a person is referred and you have more qualifications she or he is going to get the job not you. Yes it could be the same in any place but Puerto Rico is small and good places to work are small too specially if you want to stay in the Capital area. And almost forgot the money is not that good unless you are the son or daughter of a rich guy, or bust you *** for a looooong time.

That's what happened to me I was working in a good construction company busting my ***, working 60 or more hrs. (no life), weekends with a mediocre salary and when I asked for a raise they told me I needed to earned it. HA!

So I moved to US Florida and I'm very happy and married now. And still trying to convince my parents to move here. :-)

Things are no that good wright now in PR in terms of Economy.

If you speak fluent Spanish you are almost there. You won't find any good paying jobs though in a country with an unemployment rate of over 20 percent and extremely expensive housing.

its pretty fun because you get a lot of days off and stuff
but you have to know how to speak spanish its a MUST!
getting a job here is not that hard like a lot of people are saying but its not that easy either
i think you should take like a 2 week vacation here and see the houses and job openings and then make your decision
good luck ^_^

I you speak it fluently then your good up to there,but...do you have chances of getting a steady well paying job here?, because if you don't i'm sorry, you don't have many chances unless you'd like to wipe out your bank account renting only for a few months in a paradise house because housing here is very expensive for a lot of people, so you really have to like to work a lot...besides that...good luck, i agree with Tito a lot.

Yo soy boricua
I lived there most of my life, and I can tell you, is hard living there.
Driving is reckless, education is not very good, and depending where you move, there are very bad people(well, everywhere you go there are bad people ). I lived in some of the worst places there, and trust me they are bad.
I personally don't recommend you to, I feel bad saying this about my birth place, but USA economy is bad, but over there is worse.
Things are also a lot more expensive. I am not saying you won't make, all I am saying is that it is hard
(if you have any questions about what is like moving there, feel free to ask)

To me it depends on what kind of life you want to live.

But overall, OH YEAH!!! YOu will make it!!!!

Caroo.JG
Of course you will make it! My history teacher, who is from California, moved here when he was 19 and when he got to his house, that his dad had bought for him, he was crying he didn't like it, he talked to his dad and his dad sent him back. When he got to California he missed Puerto Rico, then his dad got him back to Puerto Rico, and he has been in Puerto Rico, no for 35 years, and he says he doesn't regret anything.

>> I would recommend you to live in the metropolitan area. Some of the best places in Puerto Rico are: San Juan, Bayamon, Guaynabo, and Dorado ( a small amount of place )

So, yeah. Come and have fun ! Don't listen to those other people that say they lived here and that things are expensive and that there is bad education, because there is not. I am on the top 1 school in Puerto Rico and it has really good education.

:D

Contrary to the propaganda that the government of Puerto Rico is constantly bombarding the United States with, that people in Puerto Rico don't speak English, yes, you can get by on English alone in Puerto Rico. The younger generation of puertorricans are very adept to understand English, they have grown in the era of Direct TV, which in San Juan, and even in the interior of the island, most households have, since Puertorrican TV stinks. Keep in mind that you will start to pick up phrases in Spanish as you stay longer in PR and Puertorricans are very forgiving of accents, we appreciate people trying to learn Spanish and we do not ridicule them for not speaking it perfectly. So, go to Puerto Rico and enjoy your stay.

.
ANY one can make it any where in the world. All that depends is what you are willing to sacrafice to live ther.

For example: you will probably be far from family and friends. You will starting out totally new. You will be lost for a while. You might have troubles. Since you live in cali, it might be okay since locations such as those and florida are pretty similar to places to like PR..

Honestly, for me though, the biggest thing is being far from fam and friends ):

Pretty&Paiid08
If you take lesson's in Learning spanish (If you Dont know spanish already) But if u take lesson's and learnt here language, that's going to be the easiest way to get around. From there you do whatever else. It may be hard in the beginning, but it is possible & will take awhile (:
