How is life as a person of indian origin in Trinidad?

Hi Handy. So glad you drop by. Welcome to the trini posse.
To answer your question. I don't think ppl visit India to trace their family, it is more to visit that very enchanted country our foreparents came from.
All that rich culture bought from India to here, the food, music.
Every race here live as one ( as you can see here in Yahoo Answer).
As anywheree in the world, there are problems but you have to make the most of it and love your country no matter what.

By the way, I intend to visit India one day. That is my dream.

If ah man want to go back and see papa India or papa Africa or papa China daz nuttin. Ting is dey love Mama Trinidad and Tobago.
Wah safety yuh talk bout ? We eh have no body blowing up buildings and tanks in de streets, given dat we want to see tings better but still we better off dan some.

Oh I love Trinidad. Now because of the crime, cost of living etc. life is difficult. What I meant is that this land nurtured me from birth. It is a Mother to me. There is a Hindu concept of calling the land Mother. I also see India as a Mother because my ancestors came from there. They brought their religion and culture over here. I am who I am because of my ancestors. It is one of my dreams to visit India. My ethnicity is Indian but my nationality is Trinidadian. :-)

Handy , people of all races like to visit the birth place of their ancestors once they can afford it.
At present Trinidadians ar migrating for many reasons not only to be in another safe country because no where is safe .
They just want to seek a better life .

Well am a trinidadian and am an indian too but i think its like that bcause oir ancestors are from india and its just a facinating place to see. oh and bye the way i live in usa.

Indo-Trinis today are not migrating to India (at least not in mass numbers)...they migrate to wherever they feel there are better opportunities, just like all immigrants do worldwide. Those who can afford it visit India because it's a beautiful place to see, or for religious reasons. Everyone I know that has gone has done so as tourists or pilgrims.

or a mix of some or all - Dougla is one category

my cousin migrated to Canada - he's mixed with African, Chinese and Indian so you can't tell off the bat what his true race is - nevertheless - people migrate for all reasons
