I live in California and my friends suggested we go to Hawaii for our high school Senior Skip Week. It's in May and how long does it take for me to get a passport for Hawaii and how much does it cost? |

Your flying and you will need to go through TSA security screening, so some kind of identification will be helpful if your not traveling with an adult. You don't need a passport. Try to bring a birth certificate but this is from the TSA web site for travel within the States:
"We encourage each adult traveler to keep his/her airline boarding pass and government-issued photo ID available until exiting the security checkpoint (children are not required to show identification). The absence of proper identification will result in additional screening."

If you are an American citizen or resident alien, you do not need a passport to travel to any other U.S. state (of which Hawaii is one).
You're lucky. We only got a Senior Skip DAY!
Added:
Seeing the category you put this question under, I feel it necessary to also inform you that Hawaii is NOT in the Caribbean (or any place near there). |

This question is so asinine that I looked up your profile to see if maybe you were trolling. You claim to have such abounding knowledge that you can't even answer individual emails, we all should just sponge up your vast knowledge in one big group.
Knowledge? Knowledge? How on earth can an American High School SENIOR not know that Hawaii is a state? Also, How can an American High School SENIOR not know that it is not in the Caribbean?
You definitely need to forego Senior Skip week and attend your classes instead. "Flamingo of Knowledge"....hah! "Flamingo of Ignorance" is more like it. |

You're kidding right? Hawaii is one of the 50 United States of America. You don't need a passport to travel to Hawaii any more than you need one to travel to Virginia. |

Hawaii is part of the US it is one of the 50 states so you don't need a passport.
If you are still looking to get a passport it costs $100 bucks but if you need it in May you want to Rush it so it will cost you $160. Rush takes 2-3 weeks and if you dont want rush then you will have a 6-8 week rate since this is the art of peak times to get one. |
