It's 39 mile, how slow do you drive, and why are you afraid of the police? As long as you are clean and your car is clean, it should be smooth sailing.
Hope yuh naa go deh go buy Obeah doah, however de gurls dem generous. |

1 Hour or 1:15mins tops
police are normally located as soon as yuh start the highway in harbour view. uou will pass a police station @ 9miles bull bay. and there is another police station in yallahs square St. Thomas. why mi have a feeling yuh ago buy weed*wink*wink* |

About an hour, depending on how far in twn you are.
With reference to Bob D's answer, Don't stop if you hit a pedestrian, becuse you'll get "chopped up", by the locals? Erm, if you're careless enought to hit a pedestrian, of course you stop! What sort of a human are you? And as for the chop you up bit, Jamaicans are humans, not savage carnivores! They'd be more angry if they found out you'd drove off and left someone to die.
And the bribing poliemen? Yes there is corruption in Jamaica, but it is highly un-likely that all tourists would be effected directly like this.
Tell me, how many locals have you rammed into and how many policemen have you bribed? Is this experience, or bias opinion?
Get the facts straight before you start spouting a load a rubbish Bob D.
To the asker, have a great time in Jamaica and take everything Bob D has said with a rather large pinch of salt. |

It should take you about 75 minutes depending on how much construction is going on. The police there WILL stop you for most anything...esp if you are white. You must pay a ticket directly to them if they ask for money from you. I would stay on the main roads and not speed or cause any reason to be stopped. Remember the rule of thumb in Jamaica is that the largest vehicle has the right of way so if a bus is coming at you, move WAY over..have fun |

Less than 1 second. They are adjacent parishes, so what your really asking is how long does it take to cross the border. ''
For practical purposes, you would need to indicate where you are coming from and where in st. thomas you are going. |

it depends wat part of kingston
but it is usually 3 or 4 hours
its faster now cause we have highways |

it depends on which part of kingston!! if in the center it would take probably 30 minutes but be careful on the road between downtown kingston and harbor view as that is a place where police make the most money!! |

I would think 1 hr |

Depends on where in Kingston you leave from & where in St. Thomas your going to....its a big parish...but there really nothing there, mostly cocoa nut trees and little towns that if you blink, you won't see. Theres nothing to do in those towns....though there is a rasta camp if your into that.
Average will be an hour to 2 hours, at which time you'll enter close to Port Antonio. Speed traps are everywhere and anywhere, so be sure your vehicle has proper paperwork...insurance, registration, and fitness. Another person said you pay ticket to the cop, not true. If you get a ticket, you'll have a court date stated on the ticket usally 20-40 days afterwards, but MOST cops won't write the ticket, they want a bribe, so have your "cop money" separate from your real cash....a $1000 bill will do the trick ( about $17 US ). The cop will give you a clue like asking "what can you do for me ? " or "Can you buy me a drink ?". Also if you happen to hit a pedestrian along the way, DO NOT STOP ! Drive to the nearest police station & tell them what happened. If you stop to render aid, the town folk might come chop you up.
Have fun ! |
