I am Jamaican but I do not live in Jamaica anymore.I now live in the U.S.I remember when I use to live there though it was so much fun and that is why I still have to visit there everyone now an then.I cannot leave out the people the especially and the food.

I've been to Jamaica many times and i love it. I've stayed in AI hotel first time, but then chose for small family run hotels and rental appartments. I believe the AI's don't worth the money and bad for local economy. I've been all over Jamaica from Montego Bay to Kingston, but my favorite place is Negril. It's relaxing like coutryside but has entertainment like a busy town.

I have never been but my husband had gone before we were married and he still talks about it. He went like 20 years ago. He said it was really nice and that the people were really friendly. He says it is just as pretty as the super sized buds.

I've been to Jamaica twice, and I can't wait to go back again.
The first time we went to Montego Bay. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton which was really nice. The water is warm, and they wait on you hand and foot.
The second time we went was this summer, and we went to Negril. I had heard from the locals in Montego Bay about Negril, so I wanted to try it this time.
Let me tell you, Negril is the place to be. The sand is much nicer. In fact, its so fine, you cannot pick up a single grain by itself. The water is warmer than Montego Bay. It was 87-89 degrees. You can totally see through the water over there, and if you take a glass bottom boat ride, you'll really enjoy it. We stayed at the RIU Club Resort. It is pretty new. It is all inclusive, including coctails. Each room has its own taps with Vodka, Gin, Jamaican Rum, and Brandy. The fridge is full of beer and sodas.
There are 5 restaurants on the property, all very nice. The food is excellent (and free, don't forget). They have nightly entertainment which is very good. There is a jerk chicken shack on the beach as well as another bar. There are also 2 swimming pools, although I prefer the beach. Everyone is very friendly, and the service is excellent. They upgraded our room from a Garden View to an Ocean View for free.
I recommend the snorkeling trip. Its $15.00 and worth much more. There is also a sunset cruise on a catamaran that will take you around the island of Jamaica and stop at Ricks Cafe. It was $55.00. It was about a 3-4 hour trip and lots of fun too.
The only thing I would not recommend would be the "shopping trip". The shopping trip consisted of stopping at a few places, where the prices were high, and the choices were limited.
I suggest that you do your shopping on the way back home at the airport in Jamaica. They have everything you would want there, and as it turns out ironically, the prices are much cheaper than they were on the "shopping excursion". The liquor there is very inexpensive and you are allowed to take back 10 bottles per person. No tax.
I truly had the time of my life in Negril, and left there feeling like my soul had been cleansed. If you get the chance to go, do it!
Thanks for stirring my memories with your question. Have fun!
