How much should I tip people in Cuba? |
I'm going to Cuba next year and it's all inclusive. I've heard it's customary to tip though, as they earn next nothing, and you get a better service. How much should i top waiters, hotel staff etc... Additional Details i mean TIP! |

We were in Cayo Coco earlier this year and when we tipped it was one peso, that's what was recommended to us by our rep, the staff are fantastic and do not expect you to tip them at every drop, we tipped a waiter who was fantastic to us and went out of his way to do things to make our holiday even better, the guy down the beach who saved us a sun lounger everyday got a tip off us too, the porter who took us to and from our accommodation got a tip, but honestly they don't all expect it, they love it if you give them writing books, pens, toothpaste and toothbrushes, umbrellas, Tampax, toiletries and suncream, they will be happy with any bits and bats you don't want to take home with you, anything to do with English football goes down great with them, honestly just one pesos when you feel you have had good service will suffice, the Cubans are fantastic people. |

A dollar is always appreciated, as are small gifts as cosmetics, sweets, etc., although it's not compulsory and you won't get bad service if you don't tip. They'll love you if you do though. Have a great time there! I'm sure you'll love it all - the nature and the people and the weather... |

We've just come back from Cayo Guillermo as well.No-one expects tips, all the staff we met were really nice and helpful. We did tip most of them and it was gratefully received, just 1 or 2 pesos here and there,we even tipped an old gardener and you would have thought we had given him the crown jewels!
Their wages are £10 to £15 a MONTH!
If we get good service at home ,we tip,so we don't see any difference on holiday. We probably spent £100 on tips but they were well deserved.
If you take my advice don't tip too high or everytime because yes, there are some who will expect more, just the same as at home.Take sweets and leave all the toiletries you can it is very hard for them to get. Also aspirin, paracetamol etc are appreciated. We left the maid 7 pesos a week as we got towels shaped into swans, flowers on our bed and even the odd sweet! |

ive just come back from Cuba Cayo Guillermo. They have Cuban Convertable Pesos now and each 1 is roughly the same as 1 american dollar. I tipped 2 or 3 Pesos each time and i got great service from the waiters and bar staff. They really rely on our tips so be generous
Even if u are going all inclusive the Cuban people do so much to look after you and they dont expect to be tipped but are very grateful when u do tip. We even got invited to someones house for their Birthday party. Have a great time xxx |

If your staying in an all inclusive, why do you have to tip? Could this not get quite expensive? say your there for 2 weeks and you have to tip Housekeeper $2/day, waiter $2/day, Head Waiter? $2/day, Bar person $2/day that's already $8/day x 14 days = $112, not to mention if you go out and use a cab, eat out etc.,
Don't mean to sound cheap, but some tips are already included on some holidays, meals and drinks etc. |

From what my brother-in-law tells me, they prefer material goods - hand soap, pencils and pens, stuff like that. Anything basic that isn't too bulky, so you can bring it in your luggage.
Aside from that, 1-2 dollars a day for your housekeeper and a fiver (or a tenner) for the waiter and bartender would be well received. |
