So far, for the year 2008, there have only been 4 kidnappings.
Also, the murder rate is currnetly 134.

Yuh done see de statistics above, but anyhow yuh take it all countries have crime. Crime does only stand out in Trinidad because iz a small country so it soundin like de country have rel plenty crime. If America was small we go tink America have plenty crime too. It doh matter whey yuh go, yuh cyah escape de crime, but dat shouldn't stop yuh from going whey yuh want tuh go.

..and i do agree with some of the other answers: kidnapping is nowhere near the crisis that 'our local media' portrays it to be. And to top it off, quite a few of the 'kidnappings' have turned out to be hoaxes!

check the local newspaper website daily and you guarantee to read about a kidnapping ..the Island is crime / drug infested
