I want to take a vacation to a third world country where I can rest easily about not getting robbed/stabbed/raped. Dominica seems like it's a pretty good place in this regard. Thoughts?
yea Dominica is safe and filled with many forest and rivers. well i dont live there but i live on St. Kitts which is in nearly the same category i the caribbean.

Thankfully, Dominica does not suffer from an overwhelming crime rate, and most tourists on the island should remain safe by taking minor precautions during their vacation. Nevertheless, crime has increased in recent years, and travelers should always stay alert when in a foreign country.

You'll be in some 5 star resort. You wont have to worry.

I LOVED IT!!!! The people there are incredibly nice. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and crime against the tourists is minimal. I would say you are just as likely if not more likely to be robbed in small town USA. That being said don't be a fool and flash large amounts of money or leave your diamond ring on the beach while you swim. And most of all relax, have a good time and don't forget to take a swim in the campaign bubbles. That and the fruit are my favorite thing in Dominica.

Dominica is pretty safe but try Barbados we have beautiful scenery, wonderful food and resorts and the crime rate is low. =)
Highly Favoured
Dominica is a relatively safe place but that does not mean that nothing will not happen to you there. These thing can happen anywhere. That does not mean that you should walk around with your purse expose and full of hundred dollar bills or walk in lonely places. Just because you have not heard of anything happening there that does not mean that it doesn't.
