Hi Magdalena,
Try not to worry, please get in contact with Thomas Cook Head office in Cuba located in Varadero the telephone number is (53) 45 66 7364. you may ask to speak to Mileydis who is the resort admin and who speaks English, Also you may try Deborah Coombs who is the Destination Manager or Ian who is a supervisor, both British citizens who will try to help you. Alternatively you may send an e mail to virgin.cuba@vholscuba.co.cu which is Virgin Holidays Resort Office which is just ten meters away just next door to Thomas Cook Office and they will gladly take or forward your e mail to them.
I hope everything goes well for you and the best of lucks.

I am sorry you had so many problems, but our country has a bureaucracy that makes things difficult. Personally I would suggest ( no, wait. Some people are not happy with my suggestion. I better keep quiet )
I will let you in peace now so you can figure out the best solution
My best wishes to you ! |

My recommendation would be to look for other place to get married, but I see that some members here criticize that kind of opinion.
Basically, even if it were some other place, according to the problems you found, I would say the same
Just trying to help. The decision is yours, of course
By the way, I wish you the best ! |

Well, my best honest advice is that you should get married somewhere else |

I am going to be very careful here
Tropical is probably correct if you are coming from Canada to Cuba to get married
However this person here is coming from the UK and as i live in the UK the documents needed are
UK Passport
original Birth certificate
original copy of decree Absolute if Divorced
a certificate of no impediment if you are single
From both parties
No other document is needed However that is only if you are English
If you are marrying a Cuban these need to be legalized and translated into Spanish
By both the British consulate and the Cuban Embassy
these documents can take up to three months to process .
If you are marrying any other countryman which you have not clearly stated then just the document without translation.
The Cuban Embassy in London does have English speakers , you need to be more Pushy
It is very difficult to get through to the people you need to talk to .
They will never answer Emails No matter how many you send.
Reading between the lines of other comments that is all i am saying.
Good bye to you all. I'm leaving for Cuba on Sunday will be back in the new year
So please everyone have a wonderful Christmas and new year |

I am unclear - do you want to marry a Cuban, or do you and your foreign partner wish to have a marriage ceremony in Cuba.
Tropicales has given you the answer for the second. |

First of all, congratulations!
Next important matter...you need to get a passport and don't delay.
This information will help you:

Formalization of the marriage between foreign nationals as part of a tourist offer:
(article in links above)
http://www.captivatingcuba.com/cuba/weddings/index.html
Marriage
The following are required from non-Cuban nationals wishing to get married in Cuba:
Presentation of passports and tourist cards upon arrival.
Marriage will be formalised taking into account the name stated in the passport. Therefore this must be correct and must be the same as name stated in all other documents provided.
Home address, occupation, level of education, nationality, copy of first page of passport and birth certificate of both parties.
Full names of parents (whether living or deceased).
Copies of all documentation referred to above must be faxed to the hotel at least three weeks prior to the couple's arrival in Cuba.
Certificate will be prepared and once legalized will be send to the couple at a later date (The legalisation takes approximately 1 month or 2 months) by DHL to the home address indicated.
Couple must be in Cuba at least 72 hours before the ceremony.
Divorced spouse: Certificate of Divorce.
Widowed spouse: Certificate of Marriage and Certificate of Spouse's Death.
These documents must be translated into Spanish and legalized by the Cuban Consul in the country of origin and Original documents must be brought by the couple.
Vows
The following prerequisites apply to non-Cuban nationals wishing to renew vows in Cuba:
Copy of Marriage Certificate must be faxed to the hotel at least three weeks prior to the couple's arrival in Cuba.
Original certificate must be brought by the couple.
Certificate will be prepared and once legalized will be send to the couple at a later date (The legalization takes approximately 1 month or 2 months) by DHL to the home address indicated.
Congratulations again and have a beautiful wedding. I've seen weddings in Cuba and the parties are very happy. |

Tropicale has given you excellent advice. I attended a wedding for a British couple in Cuba at a Sol Melia resort and it was fantastic. The ceremony was conducted in a little gazebo perched out over the sea. Check the link below for lots of info. edit: Tropicale has given you the same link. Be assured it is a wonderful place for a wedding you will be very pleased to have joined the thousands of people who get married in Cuba. Best wishes Magda. You will no doubt see thumbs down on replies from those of us who are pleased to encourage your decision. I leave it to you to figure that out. |
