I don't know any way to call for free, but what you can do is instant messenge them through yahoo, msn, or aim, for free. From MSN, if you have a microphone for your computer, you can call the other persons computer for free and send voice messages. The only thing both of u need to have is a computer and internet.
You can also use a webcam to talk to and see them.
The cheapest way to make calls is to use a phone card. I buy a $2 phone card, and you get about 30 minutes of talk time.
