Hurricane Season runs from Jun1 - Nov 30 with the busiest season being recorded in September. Although this is the case, you should not be deterred from visiting the Caribbean. Last years hurricane season was rather mild and even when the season is busier, the weather channel/center is truly reliable with such information. All you need to do is go ahead and make your plans and pay close attention to the weather predictions. The weathers guys usually have reliable information way in advance.

I lived in Curacao all my life, and I never experienced a huricane first hand. Curacao is generally outside the huricane belt, so it's spared of most of the bad weather.
However, huricanes can be unpredictble at times, so always keep an eye on the weather, and be ready to fly out if the need arises. Travel insurance is also a good idea.

Ok, I live in Miami, Fl so I know first hand how unpredictable the hurricane season is. If you do decide to go to the Caribbean check with the airline and hotel about what would happen if a hurricane occurs before you leave for your trip and if an hurricane happens while your there. People go to the Caribbean year round so if you really want to go there go for it. Just be aware you're taking some risk when planning your trip during that time of year.

I live in Louisiana and I'd say hold off till October if at all possible. The majority of the hurricanes come through here late-August - September.

its end of june-oct, but peak is end of august-beginning of oct. do not worry too much as hurricanes aren't a frequent event! we have been in hurricane season. we had around one thunder storm a day for about an hour, the rest was sunshine.

I live in Miami and I am originally from Trinidad. Trinidad is just outside of the hurricane belt. We never get hit. Go there. Spend a lot of many and help out our tourist industry.

I live in Florida so I know about hurricanes. there is more activity during September and October than the rest of the season. I'd pick another time to visit the Carribean.

Hurricane season is June 1-November30. The weather is unpredictable. Who knows, last year was a mild hurricane season.
My advice to you is GO but take out travel insurance as a back up plan.
The west coast of Mexico is also at risk of getting a bad storm.

That's peak hurricane season. I would wait till October. We did for our honeymoon there.

I have been to Bermuda (while not in the Caribbean, it is in hurricane alley) several times in September. I have only been there once when the island got a direct hit (Erin, 2001), and even then, it was a minor hurricane.

I would definitely not take a cruise, because while you may not be close to the storm itself, the water will be churned up for miles and miles around the storm. I would stay at a resort, preferably a larger one. Chances are that if a hurricane does hit, odds are not in favor of it being a major one, and it will pass in a day. Plus, the weather is usually gorgeous after a hurricane passes through (at least it was in Bermuda), because the wind blows out all of the junk in the air (pollen, haze, etc.). You can also purchase trip cancellation insurance just in case.

I've only been in Hurricane Season my last days in 2005, all it was the rainy days. The season cannot be predicted. Even unexpected things can happen when there's no hurricane season. Barbados had a tornado in Wildey in January and that wasn't even in hurricane season! So it's not even a bad idea. Just go for it, and be aware. :) Enjoy and good luck on the honeymoon!

I can't speak for Mexico. I've heard about that, as well. Hurricane can hit anywhere especially to Mexico and the southeastern States!

I go all the time, hurricane season is actually very popular for travelers as they get good sell off's , just hope you don't run into a hurricane

You really can't predict the Hurricane Season, I would go for it!

I live in Florida and frequent the Caribbean a lot. Hurricanes can stir up the water but the past hurricane season was relatively quiet and I don't think there is much to worry about.

If there was a hurricane to occur you (the tourist) are always the first people to be shipped out. Unless you plan on going for a whole month I wouldn't worry about it. A week or less is great though. It normally takes at least a week for a hurricane to develop and then about 3-5 days to pick up enough speed to even think about where it would be hitting.

I say go for it! You only live once and this opportunity may never happen again!

My favorite place is probably St. Lucia! It's awesome.. any of the U.S/French Virgin islands are absolutely beautiful. The entire Caribbean is! Don't be afraid to get off the cruise ship and explore it's great!

Officially, hurricane season stretches from June 1st to November 30th. But do not worry, it is a small chance that you will go & there will be a hurricane. Hurricanes are detected by radar fairly early so just watch the news before you go.

I think I'd probably not risk it if it were me in the middle of September. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast and Mid August to Mid October is the most active hurricane time and some of the deadliest have been in mid September. On the flip side, hurricanes can build up quickly but can also die out quickly so you might just be OK. But I'd buy trip insurance if it were me.
