depends on what cruise line you are on...
We have done Carnival and Royal Caribbean...
Our last cruise was on "Adventure of the Seas" Royal Caribbean..and I must say it was the best experience and vacation that we have ever had.
On thing to note, if you go on a land excursuion, be sure to make it back on time. One of the things seasoned cruisers like to do is to watch the people running down the dock as the ship pulls away!

Pros' And Cons

If you have never been to the islands this is the best opportunity to see a vaiety of places in a short period of time-
Basicly activities are the same - snorkling - historical - towns - shopping
Swim w dolphins fish..
I do not know ur age or how many your traveling with but pick one activity in each town. I reccoment renting ur own car so you can go to all the sights. lets say family 4 and they take you sight seeing for 75 day - it cheaper to do it yourself.. You can also look up snorkel trips online and the business generally will pick you upp so you do not have to book through the cruise line.. I HOPE YOU VOTE BEST ANSWER SO I CAN GET TO LEVEL TWO IN POINTS...
I eat breakfast - for free and enjoy a snack in late afternoon on cruise and dinner- Its free- You can bring your gadgets with you and purchase computer access - However most important bring a strip panel for charging all your stuff there is two outlets in your room.
We feel cruising is the lest expensive way to travel and with all activities you and everyone in your party has something to do.

I spent last Christmas on a cruise in the Southern Caribbean....If you are in port on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing day...the towns are dead...not anything at all going on...however on the ship, there are TONS of activities to partake in. I would just hang out on the deck listening to the music and enjoy vacation life...wish i was going too!!

It's wonderful. The rooms are small, but it isn't like you are going to spend a lot of time sitting around in there.
The food is fantastic! If you want alcohol, you should buy some cheap at your first port of call and take it on the ship with you as drinks can get expensive.
You can relax or stay busy. there is a lot to do on the ship and at each port. Just be careful that you don't stay so busy you come home feeling exhausted! Just like a Disney trip, that can easily happen if you try to do it all!
It's the least expensive way to have a great trip and see a lot of different places. Have fun!

I really love going on cruises, but i suggest that if your ship stops so you can get off, don't forget what time to get back on cause that would suck!

Life in a ship is as quiet or as busy as you choose to make it. There is always something laid on for you to do while at sea, or you may choose to do nothing and simply sit about relaxing. The food is superb and when you are in port you will normally find that the normal lunch times are adjusted so that you can eat when you get back on the ship. Be careful with your belongings and use the safe supplied in your cabin. Don't feel that you have to rush around every time you dock in a destination -- a lot of people find it pleasurable to stroll about looking at their surroundings or enjoying the beach near the harbour. Pack smart clothes for formal dinners -- there is a lot of fuss on those occasions. Enjoy yourself!

Christmas Time on a cruise ship is awesome. Christmas music is piped through-out the ship 24/7. Decorations are plentiful. We saw Christmas tree's in Jamaica, Nassau and Grand Cayman.

If you want to see beautiful places, you have to venture away from the ports, unless you are into shopping. By all means, walk around and shop. There is usually plenty of shopping at the ports. Otherwise, you need to take an excursion or be adventurous and take a taxi to a beach or some other popular spot.

My advice: Stay away from the "$ an inch Gold" sale. Rip-off!
Stay away from the "Watch Sale" Rip-off!

Other than that, enjoy the food, enjoy the sun. Make your own rules.
Have fun and just go with the flow.

A cruise is what you make of it. Relax and have fun!

They usually have sales in their gift shops the last day of the cruise, so, if you can wait to purchase that souvenir that you saw the first day of your cruise, wait till the day before you port. You may save a few dollars!
