I'm a U.S Citizen, but what if I end up having my baby in Jamaica? Will I be able to bring my newborn back?

Or will I have to stay and get a visa? If so how long does it take?

Yes, by law your child is a citzen regardless of where its born because you are a citizen.

Professor Oglevee
Your child would hold dual citizenship Jamaican and American. You would need to register your child at the US embassy.

Delroy L
Oh surely. Our motto is OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE. People come and go with new boyfriends, girlfriends and even get children move along back to their country.

Jamaica is a free country for one and all. Do what you pleases unless it is illegal.

if you are a US citizen, so is your baby.

dvdclarke
No the baby is automatically a us citizen.

if you have your child in jamaica the baby will be considered jamaican but you can apply for dual citizenship. if the baby is born in jamaica the baby will require a visa to the states which you can get or you can file for the kid to live in the states. if you do have your kid in jamaica there are some nice private hospitals you can choose from whether in kingston or montego bay.

yes you will be able to bring back the child home but he or she will be considered jamaican because the child was born in that country

Mandark
Absolutely! If you (the mother) are a citizen your child is a citizen.

You'll need to go to the US embassy to get a temporary passport for the newborn.

The baby will NOT be considered a jamaican national.

DA-TRUTH
WOULD YOU HAVE THE BABY THERE IF YOU THOUGHT YOU COULDN'T
