Well, first, Hawaii is not in the Caribbean, so your question is really miscategorized, but no big deal.

I snorkeled lots as a kid. Never encountered a shark. Did have one rather scary encounter with a barracuda, but he was just after the fish we had caught, so if you don't go spearfishing, they shouldn't bother you either.

I mean, nothing in life is 100% safe. Every day you wake up there's a small risk that a meteor will fall from the sky and hit you, but the chance is so small its not worth thinking about. I don't think snorkeling is any worse, if you are careful and smart. Just don't go too deep, and avoid ripcurrents, and you'll be fine.

You are going to have a great time don't worry about the sharks.

Shark attack is much rarer than plane-crash-on-the-way to Hawaii, or even choking-to-death-in-the-hotel- restaurant as a way of death.

Oh, lucky you!!! I've gone snorkeling tons of times, I used to live on an island. It's really really fun, and isn't really that dangerous at all, unless you go out really deep. Most sharks are actually more scared of you than you are of them! And the only agressive ones only live really deep out. Scuba diving can be a bit more dangerous, because of the pressure, but snorkeling really isn't dangerous. Have fun!

my mom just went recently and is there now, and she didnt get attacked

you won't die... unless that is the way you wre meant to go. Don't be so afraid that you never live life. It IS yours to live, just respect it. And BTW thre are actually 525,960 minutes in a year if you consider Gregorian leap year. :) Mostly they won't take you snorkeling where the Tiger sharks are anyways. Other than that You're totally safe . And P.S. Stay away from the Big Moray Eels. Turtles are fun!

You should go. It will be lots of fun. Don't worry, stay calm. Shark attacks don't happen that close to shore where you would be snorkeling. They tend to be in deeper waters near surfers. They very rarely occur in Hawaii. I lived there 3 years and not one person was attacked

Pray for God to protect you. Pray a lot. This will help you because you'll know you have divine help. It's going to be great. I wish I was going to Hawaii. Have a fun trip!

Hawaii is a beautiful destination, however like any place on this planet, there is a good side and a bad side. I lived in pearl city for six years, and traveled to several of the islands while i was there. There are certain beaches that are safer than others. Check with the local travel bureau on the Island you travel to, they know which ones are safe and which ones are dangerous at certain times of the year, and above all do it with someone that is experience. Once you recognize the danger, it could be too late...

Make it easier by snorkeling in the pool or something for practice.Or, just watch first to build your confidence. Then pray.
