Ocho Rios is loaded with activities. You can go to Dolphin Cove and swim with (you guessed it) the dolphins. It's good fun and the end result: great pictures and lasting memories. There's also a petting zoo and tour right before you go swim that introduces you to a little of Jamaica's history.
Practically across the road from that is Dunn's River Falls. You can climb to the top of a waterfall with a local tour guide and other tourists. It's not as difficult as it sounds and way more fun than I can describe. Persons from 9-99 take on this challenge and love every second of it.
Prospect Plantation is a 10 minute car ride away..(you can always take a cab). They have tours on the hour of an old Jamaican plantation. It's a pretty good "get to know Jamaica" destination.
There's Island Village which has live music, great Jamaican food and crafts and a popular club called Margaritaville.
If you can, go to Chukka Tours. You can go tubung down the river, Zip line or horseback riding there.
Ocho Rios is great. (My favorite destination)
ENJOY!
