Tom H

I'm looking for a recommendation for a great romantic 3-4 day getaway in the Caribbean?

Would love a picturesqe resort with great beaches and scenic pool(s), friendly service staff, with terrific restaurants on-site or nearby. Probably prefer NOT going all-inclusive - looking for something a little nicer than most of the all-inclusives. Want good value, but willing to spend $$$ for a nice trip. Please share any ideas on which islands in general, and which resorts specifically sound like a good fit. Thanks!

We went to St. Thomas twice and both times stayed at the same hotel. The Emerald Beach hotel. All the rooms have a balcony overlooking the water, the restaurant has a beautiful of the beach, they have a pool. It was absolutely wonderful. I don't believe they offer an all-inclusive either. It's also worth the money to rent a car (we rented a Jeep) instead of taking taxis. We saw so much more of the island the secong time that way. We also took the ferry to St. John and rode all over the island stopping at all of the different little beaches. Really beautiful islands.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Snorkling, rain forests, a Volcano to go up, black sandy beaches on the main island, white sandy beaches on the Grenadines. Some of the best boating in the world.

but then I'm biased,

Look into Curacao (http://www.curacao.com), and one of these hotels:

Hotel Kura Hulanda/ Lodge Kura Hulanda
http://www.kurahulanda.com

Chogogo Resort
http://www.chogogo.com/flash/index2.html

Avila Beach Hotel
http://www.avilahotel.com/

Floris Suite Hotel

The Lodge Kura Hulanda is a pretty new place, so it might stiff feel a bit "fresh" at the moment.
