It depends on what qualifications you have. Many people leave the Dominican Republic in search of work, which is perhaps an indication of how few job opportunities there are for anyone who is not exceptionally well qualified. You would also need a work permit and a residence permit. http://www.evisos.com.do/ofertas-empleos-trabajos/vendedores-promotores/

You are MOVING to the DR and don't know if you are going to have a hard time looking for a job?
Don't you think this is something that may be important to know before you make that decision?
Do you speak Spanish? If NOT your possibilities are a bit limited as English is only spoken by 10% or less of the Dominicans you will have to deal with.
Average wage here is between 170-300 US dollars a month working 5 1/2 days a week but anything you are use to which is imported is very expensive. Haagen Dazs is 9 bux for a pint here for heavens sake!
Doing business even in a tourist area is tough because it goes up and down. Everyone comes here thinking they are going to make a lot of money and go home with their tails between there legs.
I have lived here about 7 years and love it but you need money to come here and live good!
Good luck |

Hi,
Wow moving to dominican republic that is a big thing. Very fun there, but finding a job will be very hard. The jobs there arent as great as in canada or usa. I suggest you dont move there only for vacations. Bring a lot of money and becareful. HAVE A LOT OF FUN!! |

For sure unless you have some qualifications which make you outstanding. Even if you did get a job, the wages are terribly low. Most ex-pats who have a business hire friends with Dominican experience and people who have paid their dues. For a start if you are unilingual your chances are narrowed even more. Many working in tourism speak English, French, Spanish, and German. If you do go for it make sure you have enough to live on for at least six months if not more. |

No, to have a good job all you need is a degree just like anywhere else. Though it could depend what part of the d.r you will work, it's easier when your in the city and the metropolitan areas like santo domingo distrito federal, santiago etc. luck. |

it depends on your expectations. To get alucrative job by western standards... government or foriegn based company. To earn a living in paradise, even if it means "sacrificing" creature comforts like 24 hour power, water, grs systems, oh and govt control from where you can walk your dog to how much trash you are permitted...PRICELESS!!! |

Why would YOU have a problem finding a job when half the people on the island can't find a job? |
