Aruba without a doubt...Super clean island with intelligent people living there. also it is out of the hurricane belt so no worry about hurricanes or the damage they leave behind. Everyone speaks English there.....it is practically a solid beach all the way around the island....I love the place.. |

I've never been to the Dominican Republic, so I can only comment on Aruba. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Aruba and it was fantastic. The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful and the food was the best we've ever had at a restaurant. There's an on-site shop called Red Sail Sports that offers virtually every activity you could want.
Some people complain that Aruba is too dry, but you won't even notice that around the big resorts, which are surrounded with lush palm trees. The upside to the dry climate is that it's sunny most of the time, but not too hot because the constant trade winds keep the temperature comfortable. |

I love Aruba. I've been to about 10 different islands and Aruba has long been my favorite. There's a lot to do on the island...great tours, restaurants, casinos, shopping bars ect.
Any of the Divi resorts are nice...except the divi dutch....kinda old. I'm actually looking into the RIU for myself..if just opened. I hear great things about the Occidental as well. |

We have been to both and liked both for different reasons. You go to Dominican Republic for the sake of the all-inclusive resorts and taking it easy. It's not a place you go for exploring.
You go to Aruba, which is much smaller, for the sake of a little more freedom and safety. You might be more likely to get a hotel in Aruba than an all-inclusive resort because it's easier to walk around to nearby restaurants.
Both places have great beaches.
In DR, we stayed at the Occidental Grand Punta Cana and enjoyed it very much.
In Aruba, we stayed at the Marriott Renaissance, which has a wonderful private island just off the coast. Boats go from the hotel to the island and back all day long. It's a 10-15 minute ride and well worth it for the quiet and beauty.
You can't go wrong with either one if you know what to expect. |

Dominican Replubic-Punta Cana
I have been there but not to Aruba. One thing about Punta Cana is that there is nothing to do there so takgin a vacation there means very little sightseeing. Its jstu to basically relax |
