High season starts November through April, because everyone wants to get away from winter. So the prices are going to be higher. In Puerto Rico brand hotels are expensive, do not expect to pay less than $250/night at the Intercontinental, Sheratton, El San Juan, El Convento, Westin, El Conquistador, The Ritz, Caribe Hilton (all top hotels). Visit www.gotopuertorico.com, you will find hotels by area and budget. Also you can visit a travel agency and ask for the package Puerto Rico is Fun that gives discounts and a night free. For airfare there is nothing cheaper than online rates. Once you are there I recommend you to rent a car; you can go to all the main attractions and it is very easy to drive in the island (you will save $$$ in taxi rides). Have fun! |

I say between April and november. After that gets more expensive. As far as saving money stay away from the metro area. Theres great hotels all arounds the island. Plus the metro area is too crowded and more expensive. If you can rent a car is not going to get you more than two hours from any point in the island to get to San juan anyways. Ponce, Aguadilla and HUmacao are grat cities and you might even get shuttle service from the airport. |

Well I would go during the winter. Its still warm down there but not kill me hot. It would also be cheaper becuse youre flying in the off season. Not to many vactioners and so it will also be less crowded. Trust me, I come from the Island! |

When to go.....It depends on how desperate you are to get away in the winter...I hate winter, so I like to go then. Some people can hang on until Spring. But any time is wonderful. You are going to love Puerto Rico.
Here's my favorite hotel. It has nice large airconditioned rooms, a lovely palm and tropical plant outdoor patio with a great free breakfast with coffee, juices, fresh fruit, cereal, etc. The staff is friendly. It's just off the Condado (main hotel and shopping street) 2 doors from the beach! Ahhhhh! The beach.
