Never been to Aruba but have been to Barbados many times. You can drink water right from the tap and have no stomach problems; same with the food. Try to stay near "The Gap" because it's where a lot of nice restaurants are and also lots of activities. I imagine it will be very hot in Barbados in the summer! We always stayed at Casuarina but it's changed ownership and is now all-inclusive, which doesn't appeal to me because of the many fine restaurants, all within walking distance.
Have a great holiday.

I was in Aruba for my honeymoon in Aug - Sept 2008. I say if you have the money at the moment you should go to Barbados.. I've never been but I've always wanted to.
If you do end up going to Aruba thow (which was beautiful) do NOT stay at The Aruban!!! The staff as EXTREMELY RUDE!!, the lights from the walk way shine thru your window all night, and they have 2 beds instead of one king. Their pool was pretty much the only nice thing. The people at The Mill were VERY nice and helpful and the rooms were pretty nice. I didnt get to stay at the mariott but i did visit it, and it was beautiful!! If I were ever to go back thats where i would stay. (but you may not want a wonderful hotel because theres so much to do why would you want to do more than just sleep in the room).
I know you didnt ask about food/ restaurants but if you do go to Aruba, I highly recommend the Flying Fish Bone and the California Light House!
The people in Aruba are very nice and friendly! I would also definately go on a Red Sail snorkel/dive tour.. Their staff was lots of fun and informative!! Their prices are very reasonable and you get to see shipwrecks and that sort of stuff. |

Aruba. There's a lot to do (i'm sure all islands do ) but a good thing is, there's that breeze that you want on a hot humid day. No matter what you won't overheat yourself. The divi chain of hotels are great. I stayed at Divi dutch ..its a condo/apartment type hotel with full kitchen except a washer and dryer but it's less than a minute away from the beach. IF you go to aruba, make sure to go to De palms island..Snorkeling is free, foods and drinks (inclu alcohol) is free, there's a water slide for kids (adults can go on it too,, I did ) and best of all it has SEA TREK which basically where you get to walk under the sea (25 feet down) ofcourse with a small charge but its a great spot to visit |

Aruba! We have been to Aruba 3 times and are going back over New Years. Aruba is safe, and you are pretty guaranteed to have nice weather - it is out of the hurricane belt. The beaches are wonderful. You can drink the water right from the tap. The best thing about Aruba is the PEOPLE... they are wonderful and so friendly. |

Highly Favoured

Barbados is a good one. It all depends on it you want an all inclusive resort or not. I have never been to Aruba so can't say it is bad but I have lived in Barbados all my life so can tell you about it. Try the site below. |
