it depends what kind of activities your looking to do. on the north coast are the beaches of the atlantic ocean and on the south is the famous punta cana and carribean ocean. Also in Santo Domingo there are tons of things to do. Many museums, parks, restaraunts, the oldest places in the "new world" are located in dominican republic and the remains of christopher columbus. for some ideas check out this site called viator.com they have tons of excursions and trip ideas.

go on safari u enjoy it am sure u go round all villages and see how they live and to the school and if u want take pencil and crayons for the children then u have lunch and then go on a boat to the sae and go boogy boarding it great and a cheap and greta day out enjoy domician republica have fun i loved it best holiday been on

dot n go, thats my only advise, if you do stay clear of the grand paradise 2 out of the 4 people in my family spent 5 out of the 7 days we were there in the hospital, this resort was in punta cana, good luck

if you're trying to party santo domingo- boca chica is nice for guys . i think santiago has a new law that prohibits partying after 11. puerto plata is nice as well, punta cana is more of a honeymoon spot.
