You will need a passport to fly but if you take a cruise or go by sea your valid photo ID and original birth certificate is still good in most cases.
Some cruise lines want you to have a passport, so if you are cruising call your cruise line.

I'm from the Bahamas so i no you do need it now if your traveling by plane but if your traveling by boat i don't think you need it

Yes, starting now in 2008 a birth certificate and picture ID is not allowed to travel out of the country. You do need a passport. You can get them on a rush 10 day order but they are very expensive that way.
