I am doing some research and wants to get some positive feedback from persons who have visited Jamaica?

Can I have some some honest answers please? I would also like Initials and City, to use as reference, if it's not a problem.

If you only want "positive feedback" I have nothing to add.

I visited Jamaica 2 years ago, Runaway Bay area, and fell in love with the richness of the culture and the island itself. If I could find a way to live in Jamaica and still make the money I make in the States, I would be gone before you could read this answer!

It's absolutely beautiful and has a free feeling to it for me!

I have heard people have trouble there, as tourist, but I didn't experience that. I experienced warm friendly caring people!

The weather is usually perfect and the Caribbean Sea is beautiful!

I plan to go back in September. I hope this helps your research!

Irie!

I was there in March for 2 weeks spent a lot of time in the parish of St. Elizabeth......Beautiful people!! was treated so wonderful..poverty is an issue however they do what they need to do and support each other as far as I could tell....hard working people and know what a hard days work is..for not much money.but I never met anyone who complained about what they didn't have...one should not assume that poverty is a CHOICE.... their government does little to help .Jamaicans are a very proud people and obviously enjoy something we pay thousands of dollars to see....ie their Island.....too bad they don't get the benefit of our dollars..that we spend while there criticising their way of life...Lm from Canada

I've visit Jamaica 2x a year since 2000...I always enjoy myself ...My favorite part is Ochi Rios,I've stayed at the Jamaica Grande a very nice plush resort ..if you want to be pampred this is the place to be...but then again if you want more freedom and want to mingle with the people you can also stay at a local place ..I like Fishermans Point ,Jamaica is a very poor country so be prepared for alot of begging an haggling ,but once you say no about the 3rd time then they get the message..the food is very good and plentiful, the music and the people are great ...So go and enjoy ...this year I'm going to another part of the Island Negril...I've never stayed there so this a new place for me ..but I'm sure that i'll have a great time ... TA in Phila..

I went to Jamaica for my honeymoon. We went to the Couples Swept Away resort in Negril. The time we spent there was wonderful. It was beautiful and relaxing. We also traveled around to a couple of activities including an underwater adventure in Montego Bay and a zip-line activity (which was our favorite part of the trip) that was farther inland. Some downsides that we experienced was the driving, which seemed rather reckless and unnerving, and the long wait at the airport on the way back (the computers went down and we had to wait in a line for 6 hours). Overall it was quite fun and I've been trying to get my husband to go back ever since.

I've been four times, staying in Montego Bay at a beautiful resort, but have toured the whole island, from Negril to the Blue Mountains. It is a poor country and the people struggle to make a living, but they are friendly and gracious and grateful. It's beautiful. I've never met more lovely people. Happy, magical memories.

I visited Jamaica in February and it was magnificent. I went to Ocho Rios and Montego bay. I must say that most of the land outside the resort was complete slums. No joke, no one even really had homes just shacks, its kinda like you would go walking and find a slab of wood, take it and put it up as a wall.
Its pretty bad. Also the marijuana is horrible its growing everywhere and I mean everywhere. There was so many complaints from visitors saying that they would be approached at the airport and on the beach by people if they wanted some weed, its sickening but other than those problems the place is spectacular .
Oh and I forgot that if you wanted to have a nice house in Jamaica it would cost about a million dollars thats why everyone had shacks. And an American dollar is worth about 60 Jamaican dollars. Gas there was 52$ a gallon so mostly everyone walked and the only cars you would see on the road were really nice ones that the rich folk had.

Hope this helps you research!!

Lindsay S is not telling truth about Jamaica, Lots of great houses are in Jamaica, Jamaica is a nice place it is better that most of the caribbean island, nice hotels, just like anywhere else in the world include the USA there are shack houses in poor areas and also very big houses. The beach is great and lots of good clubs are here to go, Coral Cliff, Blue Beat, margaretta Ville in Montego Bay and not to mention Kingston lots of places to go.

I recently returned from a trip to Jamaica and had a horrible time while there. I say this....because maybe this will prevent you from making the same mistake I did. I was really surprised too, I had been expecting a pretty, clean, simple place where I could relax and enjoy the natural beauty. That doesn't exist there. And I drove around enough to see the lions share of the island as well as probably 80% of the resorts there. So I feel like I can safely say this since I was just there.

I would never ever go back there even if I was offered a free trip. It was terrible in most every way you can think of. Jamaica is like one huge ghetto. The locals prey upon tourist, try to sell you everything from drugs to cheap trinkets, they will not take no....and a few were down right scary. The resorts are ok at best. The food is awful and terribly expensive. Water is terrible. Customer service is non-existant.

Jamaica is a great example of paridise lost by poverty, corrupt government and social decay. I was soooo happy to get back to the US. Any of our beach areas will beat anything you might see in Jamaica by far, be less expensive and safer by a long shot.
