In most respects the wattage (watts) is not what matters. It is the voltage. Jamaica generally uses 110v, while the UK uses 220v.

The U.S.A. uses 120v power supplies as standard, with 240 volts available for some heavy duty devices.

Read the label on your device to ensure that it is designed for 120v (the US standard). When you get to your hotel, check the outlets to find out what is supported. Sometimes hotels accomodate both european and us standards for their bathroom outlets, so check to be sure.

Outlets giving anywhere between 100v and 130v, should work fine with your device.
