I went to the Dom Rep last year and after taking medical advise from my doctor (who looked it up in a world manual of tropical diseases or something) I had to take malaria tablets, get all my jabs up to date and get hep A. He said the risk is small when ur in a tourist destination, but better to be safe than sorry! I am from the UK and you can buy them over the counter.

No....you don't need any vaccines or anything of that sort. Playa Dorada is great....was just there last year in July at el Gran Flamenco. Check out Mangu. Am going again this year for the first week of February, but I'm going to the baseball series in Santiago. Should be a busy time in Feb, with baseball, Independence day and carnival right around the corner. Have fun!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! this not Africa!
Please just your luggage that's all you need.

My baby boy arrived! 12/2/08
I never have and I have been to D.R. many times.

yes, we are just begining to take them for our trip next week, the dom rep is a low risk country but that does not mean that there is no risk, is it worth taking the chance, it only takes 1 bite from 1 infected mosquitto for you to become very ill, i am taking no chances with my childrens or my health, why risk it for the sake of a fiver ??

jnbill1204
I lived there for two years and never had any problems. If you are going to be there for any extended period of time I would suggest a Hep A shot but just for a visit you'll be just fine. Have a good time it's a great area your going to.
