I am leaving on a vacation next week, how long should I go for? I want a tan. Should I go to Aruba, the flight

is cheaper, or to DR the flight is more expensive but the hotel is cheaper. I think I can save about $200 for DR, but I heard that it's hotter and the sun is better in Aruba. I just want to get tanned. How long do I need to go there for a tan? Two or three days or longer?

My husband and I went to Aruba in 2004 and the Dominican in 2005. Aruba was a ton nicer. The Dominican seemed 3rd world after staying in Aruba. Both have good amounts of sun, we were in both places in late April and it rained more in the Dominican. The Dominican was a bit cheaper when we went, but we did all-inclusive both times. We really liked Aruba much better. Have a great time where ever you go.
PS...I suggest 5-7 days

Go to the Dominican Republic, it's soo pretty over there and the sun shines a lot so you can get tanned easier, but everyone tans differently. Go to D.R trust me, i'm from there. =].
Go to:

Been to both countries and tanned better in Aruba. Be careful if you go to Aruba because the sun is much stronger. DR was really nice too but I didn't get as tanned. I would stay 3 or 4 days.

OMG. just go on someone's roof and tan. gawd. tanning is bad for you anyway.

Sugaliciouzzz
Aruba is nice, you can get tanned like in 2-3 days, but depending on the type of person, not everyone gets tanned soo easy or get tanned in less than that.
BY THE WAY ARUBA IS SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you say you will come next week, that's perfect to see and enjoy the grand carnival parade, which is celebrated in the streets of the town, where everyone comes outside on the streets the entire day in the sun....a good chance to get a good tan too!!! and enjoy one of the world's greatest carnival!!!

p.s.: Aruba's Grand Carnival Parade is held in Oranjestad on Sunday February 3rd 2008

There are so many other Caribbean islands you can get a tan in...All of them...BUT ARUBA has the Divi winds the sand can blow in your face and it feels awful. So it depends on when you go.

Sorry Aruba, that's one island I would never return to.

Remember you can tan anywhere there is hot sun!

^^Smile^^
DR, suppose to be cheaper (in every way) and more fun than Aruba. I have been to Aruba is nice but DR is nicer. So check out again..

Good Luck!!
ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!

DO NOT GO TO ARUBA. It is very dangerous and there is an official Aruban boycott going on right now. The dominican Republic is gorgeous and probably much cheaper to buy things on the actual island. The sun is lovely in the DR and the island itself is pretty, Aruba is a bunch of cacti and dust. I hope this helped, and please, please, for your own safety do not go to Aruba especially if you are a young female. You may never make it home.
