If you're a US citizen, no.

threegooofs
What strange responses from everyone else! The answer depends on where you are coming from!

If you are traveling from anywhere in the US, or a US territory, you will not need a passport, since P.R. is a US Territory. If you are traveling from another country, you probably will.

Brian
Puerto Rico is a country that has a compact of free association with the US as a commonwealth or free-associated-state since 1952. Passport is NOT required yet for US citizens.

caveman
its a territory of U.S. NO! if you land else where maybe..

Pilotman
No, PR is a common wealth of the USA and no passport is needed. Be sure you have valid ID..

jesus t
no. its a us commonwealth. just a drivers license or other picture id.

Charlie
Here is one more answer to confirm that you do NOT need a passport to travel to and from Puerto Rico or any other U.S. territory or possession, or between states if you are an American citizen. there are SOOOO MANY people out ther that keep spreading mis-information and saying that a passport is needed to travel within the United States. Then there are the ignoramuses that do not know Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. ...even travel agents!!!! No, No, No...you do NOT need a pssport for travel within the U.S See webpage below toconfirm.!!! Read the line just under the paragraph that starts," Summer 2008." Have a great trip.

shinningstarofthecarribean

After January 1st, 2008, you WILL NEED a passport to enter the country... period

Innowen
Puerto Rico is a US territory, not a foreign country.

summer
Na u don't need one mate

Phillyfan
I don't think you do because it is considered a US territory. it's like flying to Alaska or Hawaii, which are states, and you don't a passport for those places.

Pilot in Training
you should need a passport. they wouldn't alloy you to fly if you don't have one.

Cheryl S
I am a travel agent and have pasted a web site for you find the information you need. A word of caution: Getting out of the US may not be your problem...getting back in has become more difficult since 9-11, therefore, make sure you have the proper documentation. My personal advise is to get your passport. At this late date, though, you might have to expidite it.

BTW PR rocks very hard.

Probally. you need a passport anywhere out of the country. Get one just to be safe too. Maybe you don't but you probally will even to get to a territory and it is always good to have a passport.

Puerto Rico is owned by the US but leaving the country will require one to present a valid passport now. Better safe than sorryl.
