Take your money there. & convert it jamaica has you will get more ja dollars to the us dollar. Also dont change all the money at once!!!
Have a great time xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

american dollars or euros

Take American dollars as they are accepted everywhere in Jamaica

Take mostly US currency, but I would get a few dollars in JA currency. If you leave the resort areas and go into the hills or on around the south coast some people prefer JA. US is accepted everywhere but some places take a while to convert it. Make sure you take small bills. Lots of ones and fives.

Michael
does not really matter us dollars are accepted all over in Jamaica and most of the Caribbean

richie_822
well it has its pros and cons....... i would say change it to jamaican $s and spend as this will not attract too much attention and also most places when ur buying with USD will lower the value of the USD that is, the exchange rate, so ull have to send more to get the product......
also remember that in changing the USD to jamaican its 1USD to apx JM$ 63.. so USD1000 is JM 63,000 thats alot of money to change even USD500 is somewhat too much... also be mindful of where u go and change it.. cause ppl will hang out in these cambio 's and watch u then rob u.......
with that in mind i wish u a good trip....... XOX enjoy the island in the sun

I've just come back from Jamaica. As far as i can tell most places will take US dollars, Jamaican dollars or a combination of the two.
Take mainly US dollars with just a small amount of Jamaican.

Have a great time!

maivas229
take them both.It would be good if you take more USD.The rate is good.

Bareasskmeagain
USD and if you need to exchange there. Don't exchange in USA since the rate is better at the host country. . .always.
It is also better to deal in local currency since all prices are quoted in their currency, there would not be any doubt about change or cost.

klo
you get more for your jamaican dollar. My husband is Jamaican. I go all the time. when they find out you have american dollar, you pay more.

It is OK to pay in US but make sure when buying gifts you do not overpay. Most gifts can be bartered for in Jamaica, and the locals love USD!!!!

connors
It doesn't matter. I guess it depends on which you're more comfortable with. If you're going to use US ensure you know the value or have it changed, by a bank or so. You can also use your Credit Card as a backup as quite a few places accept them.

All the best and I do hope when you visit us it will be a memorable experience.
