It is in fact called the Jamaican Dollar (JMD). As the other persons mentioned the value is at US$1 = JMD90. In terms of transportation, persons get around by their own private motor cars but a lot of persons depend on public transportation, which at this point is buses and taxis. There are no commuter trains in JA at this time.

montego bay is a popular attraction in jamaica check out the link below about that. what is ur dollar??? is it U.S. CAN. etc. check the second link that i provided. the JA currency is not valuable. ppl get around either in there own cars or by public transportation buses or taxis.well there is negril, green grotto or the famous dunn's waterfall

Zip lining is fun and is not that expensive... out of Ocho Rios.Also there is a Dunns River Falls which is pretty touristy especially when the cruise ships disembark....there is a River Rafting experience that can be done pretty resonable it's down the Rio Grande and is out of Port Antonia (a small fishing town north of Ocho Rios) and Reich Falls is also a MUST SEE MUST DO!!!! There are lots of free things to do as well like visiting Tom Cruise Beach or Boston Beach (Jerk Chicken Capitol of the World)
Most people get around by hailing local taxis...most Taxis are not marked but some how the locals know they are Taxis...There is a bus system that goes around the island. The American Dollar can be converted into "J" and it fluctuates on a regular basis you can use the converter to see what rate it is at daily. .Anyway I hope this helps a little...
