easy question and solution if you do one thing and remember an old Jamaican saying.....
Wait till you get to your hotel and get from one of the Jamaican guys there, 100 % positive there will be more than one guy willing to help you out. And you stand a lot less of a chance of getting ripped off if it's from someone you're gonna see everyday while you're there. Bus driver will stop at any ole place just to satisfy you, quality not very good. But some do have connections and can get the better stuff if you're persistent enough.
The saying..."put it in your head, not in your mouth"
Meaning-smoke BEFORE you go out, not WHILE you are out.

Unfortunetly, marijuana is readily available in Jamaica and if you are there for more than 2 minutes, you'll be offered it even with the police standing right there (I've been off a cruise ship for not more than 10 steps out of the port and been offered because I was smoking a regular cigarette). However, be very, very aware of something: what they are offereing you can be a variety of things because they know you're a tourist. It can be anything from yard grass to something very high potent to get you confused so they can rob you. Remember, you're over in their country and you're a tourist getting illegal substances, so who's going to be believed if you'd even dare go to the police and say something? Also be aware that it might be a day that Jamaica decides that they need to make a statement due to a lot of publicity about drug abuse and hurting tourism so you happen to catch the person that's part of cracking down on it and be arrested. Being arrested in a foreign country won't be real good.

For an enjoyable, hastle free, trouble free vacation, have him curb his urge for a short time to avoid a potential bad adventure in what should be an enjoyable adventure. If he can't get his fix from the surroundings of being on an exotic Caribbean island, then he's got problems. Wouldn't he rather have the risk in the vacation being a risk of slapping a tree on a zip line through the great scenary of a tropical forest or the risk of peeing his pants coming face to face with an ocean creature he's never seen up close while snorkeling in the super clear waters than the risk of being caught and taken to jail?

Was there about a year ago. While I did not ask myself, it seemed fairly easy to get. Ask the bus driver, the taxi driver...whoever. You can find it. However, be very careful. The police in Jamaica pay people off to turn in tourists who buy pot. Not sure if you have ever been there but it is very poor. Many of the dealer will trun you into the the police to get a kickback. Then in turn you will have to pay off the police to get out of trouble. Do some research o the net and be very careful and you will be OK

I've heard that there is one Bob Marley Museeum in which it is the only legal place in Jamaica to buy the stuff and enjoy on it's premises.

if you feel like you can trust the driver then ask but you dont have to some guys sell it in the beach or you can ask the bartender at the hotel maybe they will help

Make sure if you buy it from someone, he looks right, like a rasta at least. There's enough undercover police agents offering smoke to tourists, so watch out. Local price is 50J$ for "likkle bag" or 100 USD for 1 pound. Don't buy already made cigarettes, they might contain tobacco or something worser. Don't be shy to check the quality of your supply before you buy, that's how you can gain respect and a better price :-)

Indeed marijuana is illegal in Jamaica, but that is more of a technicality. It is readily available. A good idea is to ask your bus driver at the airport. He will make a few stops for you if you wish. Doing it that way will offer you a level of protection from danger or from poor quality. The bus will make a stop for refrreshments about half way to Ocho Rios. It is likely the driver will know of a connection there. Make sure there is no residue left when returning home.

you'll probably be offered some but please be careful and buy a small quantity in case you get ripped off. I had a friend who got his wallet stolen and the snot beat out of him by wandering into a neighborhood where the locals live looking for it when he was in Jamaica.

You need to be careful with that. You may be able to find a vendor on the beach that sells it. Just be cautious.
